The need for spiritual leadership is always with us in this fallen world. There is simply no greater need than to have spiritual leaders driven by God- anchored values, not cultural winds. Today, we’ll see Paul instruct Timothy on how to identify and enlist spiritual leaders who can strengthen the church in making disciples of Jesus Christ.

Napoleon once said: “The role of a leader is to define reality and then give hope.” Although Napoleon was not a follower of Jesus, he was absolutely right that healthy leadership is essential if people are to thrive in life.

In the passage for today, Paul reminds Timothy of the combat he is in and how to fight, and what happens to those who don’t take the waging war seriously.

God’s ways are not our ways. Any attempt to mold him according to our ways will always end in disfunction and dissatisfaction. However, embracing and complying with his perfect ways will ultimately end in the sanctification and satisfaction of our souls.

When we think of war, we picture bombs and bullets, armies, and enemies. But, did you know that the longest war in the history of humanity has been in effect for thousands of years and yet does not use bombs or bullets, and most people are not even aware that it rages on every moment of every day?

Christians follow Jesus while living in a sinful culture. Every day we face a world opposed to the teachings of Jesus, people drinking a toxic brew ranging from blinding self- centeredness to debilitating depression. Over time, we can get tired and just worn-out.

Pastor Dan mentioned the other week that Abraham followed the original intent of the Lord in creation in being married to one woman, Sarah.
