Getting Through This with Tom and Scott

The weekend will be coming back in a few months, so should we start getting anxious now about not having weekend plans?

Tom and Scott ponder life after the pandemic. While some may inexplicably choose to still stay at home, we’re getting ready for the next dance craze. And if maypole dancing becomes the rage, should the Defense Production Act be instituted to ramp up production of maypoles?

Scott gets his first Covid vaccine with the happiest group of people he’s ever seen in a hospital. And it didn’t hurt a bit! Tommy gets his jab next week at Dodger Stadium, and wonders if there’ll be Dodger Dogs for sale.

Scott performs a real time intervention to get Tom to try Facebook. What follows is a groundbreaking new kind of non compensated advertising that recalls the vim and vigor of 1950’s ads.

If you hear us breathing a sigh of relief on this episode, it’s because it’s the first one we’ve done without Trump as President. This is the end of a monster movie, where the good and decent people defeat him and save our country.

In this special Tom Saunders 70th birthday edition, Life Magazine should return to feature a black and white photo of Tom with the headline “Tom at 70”. Tom and Scott celebrate being late bloomers, which sure beats peaking at 23.

Tom and Scott both have to do lists, which they pad just a little. Scott includes ”Get up” and Tom starts off with “”Do to do list”.

Scott’s getting the jab, as the Brits say, on January 22, and looks forward to swapping fun vaccination stories with the other people on line. Tom isn’t eligible yet in LA, but he looks forward to hanging out with his new pals in Phase 1b/tier2..

Tom and Scott are relieved that the noise Tom’s stomach was making was just friendly conversation, and nothing contagious. Plus, the vaccine is now available for us, but Tom wonders if he’ll meet any Dodgers greats when he goes to Dodger Stadium for his shot.

Tom’s aversion to mail is tested when he receives a glossy book promoting ultra luxury safaris, featuring adorably cute photos of lions cuddling. Scott respects all mail, and never discards anything in the non-garbage bin in the mailroom.

Hooray for Hollywood! Tom and Scott recall their first adventures in LA as teenagers, as well as their respective crushes on Hayley Mills and Julie Andrews.

We resolve, on this New Year’s Day, that there should be balls that drop in every time zone in the US, not just in Times Square. And that we should make small resolutions that are easily achievable, one of which Tom accomplishes live on the air!
