Jerry shares a message from Romans 8 today

During our time on this earth God wants to radically transform us into the likeness of Jesus. What things stop that process?

The radical transformation of a caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly sometimes gets aborted. (The interference of parasitic wasps is particularly disturbing!) Similarly, the transformation of Christians can also be aborted.

A cocoon must be a miserable place to be, and the struggle to escape is difficult. But the struggle is necessary for the butterfly to develop its wings and gain strength. So too with Christians.

When one is immersed into Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit enters and begins the process of transformation in the life of the believer. Just as a caterpillar goes through a radical transformation into a butterfly, Christians are being radically transformed into the image of Jesus. Understanding this led me to a new understanding of a passage...

To "repent and believe in the gospel" (Mark 1:15) is to radically change from a worldly way of thinking and living to living and thinking like Jesus. This requires a lifetime commitment and work!

The radical change of a caterpillar into a butterfly is a wonderful metaphor for the change of a sinner into a saint!

God uses even the smallest of actions to serve His great purposes.

Is the church important today? To answer that, let's consider what Jesus has accomplished through His church in the past.

The church began in one city and influenced all the people there! The good news then began to spread to all people everywhere. Will we continue that story today?

Society begins to disintegrate when the family disintegrates. The church is important because it teaches families how to honor God.

Like many of Paul's letters, the end of First Corinthians has practical instructions for the readers. Here are some of them!

Last week when reading about the "eternal weight of glory" in heaven, 2 Corinthians 4:18 encouraged us to stay focused on the things that are not seen but are eternal. Mary is our example for doing this!

At the resurrection, those who belong to Christ will be changed into a spiritual body fit for heaven, but what will heaven be like?

Those who are Christ's at His coming will be raised from the dead. Believing this should change how you live. Christ's people must be sober-minded and stop sinning.

Jesus' resurrection from the dead proved that He was the Messiah. Since He was raised, those who are in Christ will also be made alive!

Jesus died, was buried, and was raised on the third day. That is the good news we believe and proclaim!
