Conversation Street

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 12th and the 16th August (Episodes #11,335 - 11,340) It's a big week for Toyah this week - not only does she have to deal with Nick's confession of love as she's recovering from major surgery, she's also roped into the whole blackmail plot with Rowan, who's demanding Nick pay him £20k by the end of t...

For this special episode, we team up with Mark from the Shipwrecked & Comatose podcast to chat all things Lloyd Mullaney, who of course was played by Red Dwarf star Craig Charles. With Mark never having watched an episode of Corrie before save for a handful of famous Lloyd clips, it was a lot of fun chatting about the character and how he was similar to - and different from - Dave Lister. Our...

On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about what went on in Weatherfield between the 5th and the 9th August (Episodes #11,329 - 11,334). It'd been a long time coming, but this week, Alina popped back to Weatherfield to give evidence against her traffickers in court - and to the surprise of absolutely nobody watching, she didn't come alone...! And if this revelation isn't enough to rock the...

This week marks ten years since Dr Gaddas first graced the cobbles of Weatherfield with her fabulous presence, and to mark the occasion, we chat about the impact she's had over the decade. Why is she such a fan favourite despite making only a handful of appearances each year? Would we like to see her become a regular in the vein of DS Swain? And which Corrie characters have got Gaddas to thank for...

On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown between the 29th July and the 2nd August (Episodes #11,323 - 11,327). Not gonna lie, this was definitely a bit of a 'meh' week for us this week, despite some clearly dramatic things going down on the cobbles. From Lauren's early labour to the whodunnit surrounding the fire at Stefan's office, it was all very exciting...

We're back for the fourth round of Corrieliminator, the game where we pit 30 randomly selected Coronation Street characters against each other and rank them, with only the top three making it through to the final round. This month, we've got some pretty big names like Hilda Ogden and Bet Lynch going head to head, and it's battle of the battleaxes as Ena Sharples, Evelyn Plummer and Ivy Tilsely are...

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 22nd and the 26th July (Episodes #11,317 - 11,322). This week on Coronation Street saw another special episode dedicated to Paul and Billy's storyline, and what an episode it was! Masterful performances from the two leads, and a heartbreaking script that had us on the edge of our seats as that clock ticked towa...

As well as going to the red carpet for the Radio Times Soap Awards, we also got the time to spend some of our recent trip to Manchester doing another handful of Corrie related activities! From staying in the hotel that once welcomed the likes of Stephen Reid, Mike Baldwin and Tracy Barlow to visiting the shop where Gemma Winter-Brown nicked a pair of shoes from, we visit some more Corrie filming l...

On our latest podcast, chat about about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 15th and the 19th July (Episodes #11,311 - 11,316). WitH Lauren now confirmed as definitely not dead, it doesn't take long for the word to spread on the Street. Can Joel silence her before she blabs about why she's really been in hiding all this time? Lauren's not the only plucky young blonde causing bother...

With the British Soap Awards on hiatus for 2024, the Radio Times stepped into the breach to put on a star studded show at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, and of course, we were there to snap the Corrie cast as they arrived! In this podcast, we chat about what it was like to get up close and personal to the stars on the red carpet and share a bunch of stories from the evening. For a video version...

On this week's podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown on the 8th and the 9th July (Episodes #11,307 - 11,310) It's been an incredibly busy week for us - Michael's not even been home all week and we've been in Manchester for the Radio Times Soap Awards since Friday night, so this episode of the podcast has been a bit cobbled together - typical then, that the action in this week's Coron...

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street that were shown between the 1st and the 5th July 2024 (Episodes #11,301 - 11,306). Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear... We thought that putting Nick and Toyah together as part of what up to that point had been a really engaging cult story was a bad move, but it turns out that was nothing compared to what Corrie had up its sleeves for p...

We've reached the start of July, so it's time to discuss our thoughts on 2024 so far! We didn't seem to get too far into the year before the knives really started coming out for Corrie in the press, and the show's been having to try and deflect a lot of criticism aimed at it since, but how much of it is really justified? In this episode, we chat about our favourite and least favourite stories of t...

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie airing on Monday 24th and Friday 28th June (Episodes #11,297 - 11,300). Overall this was a pretty good week, we thought, which isn't always the case when the Winter-Browns are headlining! However, some excellent performances by Dolly-Rose Campbell and the addition of Kit as he saves her from prison really helped us to enjoy this week's A-...

We're back for the third round of Corrieliminator! This month, the 30 randomly selected characters from Corrie's past are fairly easy to whittle down to the Top 3, but how did we rank the rest of them? Quite a few names this month that we didn't really have strong opinions on one way or another, so it'd be interesting to know just how much our final ranking aligned with what you would say! As alwa...

On this episode of the podcast, we chat about what went on in Corrie between the 18th and the 21st June (Episodes #11,291 - 11,296). A real mixed bag of a week, we thought, with Wednesday's trip to Weatherfield definitely being the highlight thanks to its cosy, heartwarming scenes like movie night at No. 5 and what we're hoping is the beginning of a redemption arc for Cassie as she she bonds with...

Last Wednesday marked the first time that Iain MacLeod was not listed as Corrie's producer since he took over the reins from Kate Oates in late 2018. With the episodes going forward now bearing wife Verity's name, soon to be replaced by that of incoming producer Kate Brooks, Iain's time at the top on Corrie is finally at an end. Well, unless you count his promotion to Executive Producer, but that'...

On this week's podcast, we cover the episodes of Coronation Street shown on the 10th and the 12th June (Episodes #11,287 - 11,290). Only a couple of Corries to chat about this week, and not too many big developments to discuss either, we thought, so a relatively short podcast to balance out the bumper eps from the past few weeks! We'd all seen it coming a mile off, but this week, Toyah and Nick fi...

This week, we run down the life story of Simon Barlow, picking up from where we left off when we last profiled him in Episode #70 of the podcast eleven years ago! Ah, what high hopes we had for the little cherub back then, as he was just about to enter his teenage years! In this episode, we chat about his biggest stories from the past decade, reflect on why a member of the Barlow clan was allowed...

In our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown between the 3rd and the 7th June 2024 (Episodes #11,281 - 11,286). After last week's reveal that Joel was responsible for Lauren's disappearance, he was in full-on skulky villain mode this week - and of course, we were loving it! But with Dee-Dee accepting his marriage proposal on Wednesday, will she discover the truth ab...

In this episode, we chat to Corrie expert Mark Llewellin, who has just this week published his memoirs, entitled With Friends Like These. In the book, he shares stories from over the years about getting to know some of Corrie's biggest names, including Julie Goodyear, Jill Summers and Roy Barraclough, Mark's partner for over 25 years. He really is a fascinating guy, and here, he shares some of the...

Britain's Got Talent week is here again! Well, it WAS here. So let's crank up The Lark Ascending, hit that rewind button and recap the week in Weatherfield between the 27th and the 31st May (Episodes #11,276 - 11,280). Everyone watching this week's Corrie most likely went into Monday's episode with their theories about what was going to happen - and if you were anything like us, you were probably...

We know we said we wouldn't be doing Round 2 of this until June, but we just couldn't wait any longer to randomly select our next batch of thirty characters to rank and Corrieliminate... And if you thought we had difficulty deciding which three would make it through to the next round last time, well, this round is even harder!  You can vote for your own top three characters from this round's selec...

On our latest edition of the podcast, we chat about what went on in Corrie between the 20th and the 24th May 2024 (Episodes #11,270 - 11,275). Those returning villains just keep on coming, with both Dean and Griff making a reappearance this week, and Corey, though admittedly not on screen, being a big focus of Monday's episode. Were any of them behind Lauren's murder? Is Lauren actually even dead?...

For this week's bonus podcast, it's time for some Listener Questions! First off, we answer Breaunte's question, who wants to know how we'd make the Community Centre a bigger part of the show. Considering that this is a place that you're lucky to see the inside of more than ten times a year, there's certainly scope for it to be used a heck of a lot more, but what exactly would we do with it? We hop...
