Your Faith with Fr. Chris Stanish

As we celebrate Ash Wednesday, Fr. Chris Stanish notes that the season of Lent is a season of conversion and transformation. He encourages the congregation to consider the state of the inner room of their heart. It is hard work to examine our lives thoroughly, but Christ wants us to prepare our hearts.

On this 6th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Fr. Chris Stanish discusses the alienation and isolation for a person who suffers from leprosy and the extraordinary action of Christ who reaches out and touches the leper. Fr. Chris talks about how Jesus desires to touch our lives as well.

Queen of All Saints hosted a winter series of Theology on Tap. The topic of the winter series is: The Unseen World. On the last night of the series, Fr. Chris Stanish was invited to speak on Angels and Demons. In this talk, Fr. Chris talks about what angels are, what they do, their heirarchy, and how demons fit into the picture.

On this 5th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Fr. Kevin Huber, the pastor of Queen of All Saints, discusses how God takes some of the most unlikely combinations and transforms them into the most marvelous things.

On this 4th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Fr. Kevin Huber, the pastor of Queen of All Saints, intruduces the parish community to a five-year action plan. He uses the Gospel passage to show how each of us are part of a bigger vision in the Church and how God has an extraordinary plan to offer us.

On this 3rd Sunday of Ordinary Time, Queen of All Saints Parish welcomes Fr. Jim Quinlan. Fr. Jim is a priest from the Archdiocese of Chicago who works for the mission of Cross Catholic Outreach. In this homily, Fr. Jim talks about the story of Jonah as a means of reaching out to those who are in most need of God's mercy. 

On this 2nd Sunday of Ordinary Time, Fr. Chris Stanish delves into the meaning of Samuel's response "Here I am" in the original Hebrew. He encourages the congregation to use this phrase throughout their day so as to prepare themselves to hear God speak to them.

On the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, Fr. Chris Stanish discusses how Baptism is a major turning point in Jesus' life and how it completely changes everything for us as well. What did we get into when we were baptized? How can we live out our baptism?

On this Feast of the Epiphany, Fr. Chris Stanish speaks of the experience of the Magi as a symbol of our own journey to Christ. Fr. Chris says that we must be looking for signs to guide us along our journey so that no matter how steep the climb, our eyes are always fixed on the light of Christ.

On this Feast of the Holy Mother of God, Fr. Chris Stanish talks about how natural it is to see things in the world that remind us of our family and friends. So too with our Blessed Mary we should strive to use images and statues of her in our life so that we are reminded of her presence in our lives.

On this Feast of the Holy Family, Deacon Rich Huber uses the image of Abraham and Isaac as a precursor to the family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. He explains how even in the midst of difficulties our God makes all things possible.

On the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord, Fr. Chris Stanish uses his own vocation story to talk about the fear we sometimes have to encounter the Lord. On December 6, 2014, Fr. Chris Stanish was invited to the Missionaries of Charity in Gary, IN to give a day of recollection for the religious sisters and all their volunteers and associates. In this first talk, Fr. Chris talks about desire for God - Our desire for Him and His desire for us.

On this Third Sunday of Advent, Fr. Chris Stanish discusses the Will of God for each and every person: "Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the Will of God for you in Christ Jesus." Fr. Chris takes this line from St. Paul and opens up the concept of what it means to "pray without ceasing."

On this Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Fr. Chris Stanish poses the question: "What if I can't do it?" Because many of us have asked ourselves this very question, Fr. Chris talks about how God gives us the grace we need in order to fulfill His Will in our lives.

On this Feast of Christ the King, Fr. Chris Stanish discusses how Jesus Christ is the King of the Universe and King of our souls. Fr. Chris poses the question: "Who is sitting on the throne of your life? Yourself or Jesus?" In order to be disciples of Jesus Christ we have to dare to believe that Christ has come to give us life. We have to dare to allow Christ to enter into our lives.

On this 33rd Week of Ordinary Time, Fr. Chris Stanish discusses the parable of the talents. Fr. Chris uses the talents to talk about the knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom, that it, the knowledge of our salvation in Jesus Christ. What are we doing with that knowledge? Are we sharing it with others, or are we burying it?

On Thursday, November 6, 2014 Queen of All Saints Parish hosted a Holy Hour for Vocations. This month the parish asked the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration from Mishawaka, IN to discuss how Jesus called them to the religious life. In this talk Sister Lois DeLee introduces Sister Mary Augustine and Sister Michael Marie who give witness to how Jesus is alive and active in their lives.

On this Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed (All Soul's Day), Fr. Chris Stanish talks about death, hope, and commitment. Fr. Chris uses the feast in order to discuss how our Christian beliefs lead us to accepting the eternal life that Christ offers and the hope we can have in it. This is the vision God has for us and when we commit to that vision it is an act of worship.

Fr. Kevin Huber, pastor of Queen of All Saints, launches the public phase of "our capital campaign "Connecting with Our Tomorrow - Today". In an attempt to raise money for a parish center, Fr. Kevin discusses the difference between being needs-driven vs. being vision-driven. In this homily, he also showed a video depicting the future of Queen of All Saints.

On this 29th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Fr. Chris Stanish asks the question: Why do we exist? Using the concept of "Giving to Caesar what is Caesar's and giving to God what is God's," Fr. Chris opens up the Gospel through the lens that each and every one of us is made in the image of God and relates it to the question of why we exist.
