Today's episode covers our final Counseling Lessons of the year. 6th Grade will be learning about coping and how developing good coping skills can help build resilience. Seventh grade will be focusing on the decisions we make regarding Self-Worth and we'll wrap up with a review of the 6 Decisions we've been studying all year.

This episode gives an overview of our District/School mental health partnerships. We discuss our Mental Health Assistance Program (MHAP), our LCSW, small groups, DOVE Center group, and District Homeless Liaison student services.

In Episode 14, we discuss our February lessons. We'll be teaching about the power of words and how they can either help or hurt relationships. Our 7th graders will also be learning about how to pay for college without going into debt. We talk about the different opportunities to earn college credit in high school. National School Counseling Week is Jan. 31st through Feb. 6th and in today's episode, Mrs. J and Mr. LD tell you a little about their journey to school counseling and what they love about working with middle level students.

Mrs. J and Mr. LD give parents tips on talking to their tweens and teens about the current events surrounding politics, covid-19, climate, election results and more. These things can be unsettling to kids and they look to you to make them feel safe and secure. It can be hard to talk about these things but it's worth it.

In Episode 10, we give a preview of our upcoming January counseling lessons. In 6th grade, we'll earn about Character and how having a strong sense of self and purpose can help you through hard times. In 7th grade, we delve into healthy relationships and why it's important to set healthy boundaries for interacting with people in dating, family, and life.

Today we share topics from our December Counseling Lesson. Sixth graders are learning about Connection, the 3rd C of Resiliency; and 7th graders are learning about Stress Management.
