Welcome to this historical edition of Ranch Raised! It’s been awhile since I looked back in time to share some important historical information, so today is a good day to remember an incredible historical event that shaped the world! Today is known as D Day! 

This weekend when you are grilling some steaks throw a couple of extra steaks on, like I do. It makes a great start to week night meal on those busy nights. This week I made BBQ steak flat bread pizza and it was amazing!

It feels like we are 542 hours into this week, but the calendar says it is only Tuesday! The longest season of my life will always be getting cows to grass.

The clock is running down on Beef Month, so I thought I would share a beef recipe from one of our loyal listeners!  This is a recipe that was shared from a friend in Georgia. Dave Walker has shared his recipe for beautiful Tri-tip cut of beef.  

We may not have a fishing pole or boat on the Jones Ranch. We may never get to take fancy vacations. But, when I see that our goldfish light up my kids day, I would say that is a life worth living!  

To be honest, our kids sacrifice a lot. Our kids’ lives do not look mainstream or much like that of their friends and peers. This reality seems to be magnified on their birthdays.  

Let us all come out on the other side of this treasured holiday with a vow to be the best we can be for our country, our communities, and our family. Some gave their lives being the ultimate American, I know I can do my part to give a little bit more.

I’ve always said that most of our days around here resemble a modern version of the John Wayne movie, “The Cowboys.”   We wholeheartedly believe that kids are very capable of doing some big things, if given the chance!

Living out in the country and on a ranch means that many kids, like mine, spend a lot of time on a school bus!  Today on Ranch Raised I want to celebrate these special people in our kids’ lives. 

So bring on summer. The mess, the memories, all of it! We are ready!

One thing is for sure, Mother’s Day is not for the faint of heart for ranch and farm women! So, wether you spent the day in a tractor, playing with cows,  or doing any of the hundred jobs you were called to do, just know that we salute all the mommas out there!
