So, what I am trying to say is, I really don’t know much about what is going on, off of the Jones Ranch. I still know one thing to be true, filling the bellies of the ones you love and spending time with them “breaking bread” is worth the time and effort.

So, I spy with my little eye, baby calves hiding in that tall grass, baby goats snuggled up by their mommas, fresh eggs in the corner of the barn, and green brome trying to peak up from the earth.  And for today, those things are good enough for me. 

My name is Parker James, and i come from a deep line of farmers and ranchers from the Sandhills of Nebraska. I'm embarrassed to say it, but i don't know half of what i should about Ag. I know that our family is by no means “mainstream normal.” And honestly, we are just fine with that. I have never been the type of person to look over the fence to see what my neighbors are doing and I feel the same way about parenting. Find what works for your family and do that!

You all know that I love celebrating these two phenomenal youth organizations. Last week I gave you lots of fun facts about the history of FFA. The month has flown by and I have not given 4-H the attention it is due during National 4-H month, so I promise I will have more to come this week about 4-H.

If you have an FFA and ag program in your school, fight for it, support it and don’t take it for granted! The technical and leadership skills that are taught in FFA are exactly what the world needs right now. 

It requires 1.6 yards of corduroy to create one FFA jacket. When you lay eyes on that sea of blue corduroy jackets, there is no doubt if you have ever worn one, that you among some of the most motivated, engaged youth in America.
