We allow God to meet us by confronting our lack of satisfaction that drives us to consume.

The more you get, the more you want. Most of us live captive to a desire for more, and the only way to break free is for us to choose to limit what we have and to practice generosity. Freedom in the Kingdom of God includes being free from the desire for more.

If we are called to Become Like Jesus, that includes the way Jesus spoke. And didn't speak. We are often unaware of how we use speech to manipulate people. By learning to embrace silence we deepen our confidence in God.

Simplicity is first a focus on a single thing or, in this case, a single person. What your life is centered around will define who you become, for better or for worse.

Jesus declared the present reality of the Kingdom of God, and our hearts can become a place where God's rule and reign is effective and complete. When we pray we increasingly become representatives of the Kingdom.

Prayer begins with the recognition of who God is: both the Almighty Creator and our Daddy. When we hold together the transcendence of God along with His eminence, we start to understand the mystery of prayer.

Our natural pathway to change is to perform or conform, but Jesus invites us to be transformed.

The difference between reading the Scriptures and any other book is the deep power to change us. As God reveals Himself to us, we begin to engage the wisdom of God and not our own earthly wisdom.

The beauty of Jesus is seen in the Scripture, so how do we engage the Word to see how the Good News of Jesus is good news for us?

The first step of reading the Scripture is recognizing who God is and who we are. He supplies everything we need and lack.

Luke clearly indicates that the call of Jesus to his followers in the beginning of the story remains as our marching orders. The themes from the book of Acts continue to be lived out by apprentices of Jesus today.

Where Paul’s bold and unhindered testimony ends without closure, ours begins.

On his way to Rome, Paul was a non-anxious presence amidst life-threatening danger. As the apprentices of Jesus learn to hear and obey Him, we too can be a loving and non-anxious presence in the midst of an anxious world.

With the stories that God has shaped in both Paul and us, He has placed us in the lives of people who need the hope and freedom of Christ that we have experienced.

Paul shows us a pathway to clear conscience, which allows us to be free from guilt and secure in our relationship with Jesus.

The Acts 23 account of the disunity among the Pharisees and Sadducees reminds us of the polarization of the world around us today. However, the lordship of Jesus points us to the unity that can be ours as we follow Him.

Paul’s identity as a follower of Jesus superseded his ethnic and national identity. The same should be true for us. When we understand who God has made us to be, we can rely on that in the midst of any crisis.

The gift of prophecy has several parts to it, all on display as Paul transitions to Jerusalem. Through it all, God demonstrates His great love for us.

Paul's final words to the Ephesian elders create a clear framework for how we should engage one another and the world around us. While we must steward well the roles we've been given and be faithful, we ultimately must trust God to do the transformational work.

Gospel ministry in Ephesus was marked by extremes: incredible fruitfulness as well as a riot that enveloped the city. This is a reminder to us that the gospel never fits neatly into culture but, when proclaimed honestly and clearly, always disrupts culture. The true gospel should do the same thing in our lives as well.

We can be quick to judge the potential of the people around us, but God sees differently than we do. Through obedience to the Spirit, Paul and others see both encouragement and harvest.

Paul engaged a variety of cities with the gospel, each with their own context. He made his case that Jesus is the hope of all people everywhere.

The church in Phillipi began with three unlikely conversions. All three stories were dramatically different but equally valid pathways to encounter Jesus.
