Xtinction Agenda

James and James return to the well that is Todd McFarlane. It continues to be bone dry. Parched and disoriented, we turn to Geoff Johns' Justice League #50, drinking deep. We find it to be salt water. This might be the end of everything... "Now if you're smart, you'll step away from your cat."

A day late and a dollar short, Chris, James, and James manage to crap out another episode. This time, in honour of an admittedly somber KKKanada Day, we take the time to sample some random and not-so-random issues of Alpha Flight . "Let's hope this broad doesn't get too angry, eh?"

Chris and James head back into Edith Manning's memories. They learn how to activate the Hand of Glory. Questions to ask yourself: what would it mean to become truly invisible? And who's hand is it anyway? "There is no time here."

James and James, in a bid to cover up their inability to keep to a regular schedule, manage to.... keep to a regular schedule! Do Peter J. Tomasi and Doug Manhke have the star power that will finally put asses in the Xtinction Agenda Centre for the Performing Arts? And where does he get all of those wonderful toys? You know the answer to both those questions. We don't.

Chris, James, and James are kicking off a new series of episodes devoted to James Cameron's The Terminator . Appropriately enough, this begins with a discussion of the movie itself. What is this thing? What makes it such a classic? If you don't already know the answer to these questions, find out! "You must survive or I'll never exist."

Adam, James, and James pass the finish line on the Sniper franchise. Will Sniper: Ultimate Kill (2017), a movie featuring not only Billy Zane and Tom Berenger, but also the most explicit sex scenes of the series, be the greatest Sniper movie of them all? Don't count on it. "How many times can you go fishing, right?"

Chris, James, and James argue their way through the cosmic bracket of their supernerd tournament of nerds. Who is strongest one of all? Money is a superpower, right? And just what version of Lex Luthor are we talking about here anyway? FIND OUT! "Time Traveling Perverts"

After a necessary tour into Classics Corner and an extended look at the comic book villain Brainiac, our intrepid heroes--Chris, James, and James--return to the franchise of franchises and examine its most bizarre entry -- Alien: Resurrection (1997). "A beautiful baby boy..."

Chris and James got more than they bargained for as they sought the Hand of Glory. The action spills over into a two-parter! But what could you possibly expect from such sad and far away children...? "Replace logic gap."

Chris and James return (finally!) to The Invisibles . Buckle up. The bus is the world and we're all careening towards enlightenment. What awful truth hides down below the New Mexican desert, under all that radioactive ash? And what does it all have to do with Big Macs? FIND OUT! "I'm going to be sorry when you all head back to the... ah... the front lines of whatever-it-is."

Chris, James, and James read a reasonable chunk of Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim comics. It goes pretty well. "What kind of tea do you want?"

James and James are left alone behind enemy lines, their telemetry hacked, their position compromised, reviewing the worst entry in the Sniper franchise. This episode: Sniper: Ghost Shooter (2016). "There's no providence for what we do, is there?"

James and James use Barry Windsor-Smith's Wolverine-centric issue of Uncanny X-Men and an issue from Bruce Jones' run on The Incredible Hulk to try to drill down on what makes these characters tick. "Friends don't hurt friends, Mr. Logan. Why did you? Don't you know me?"

James and James, in an bid to rebound from a last minute guest cancellation, put the hard questions to themselves. Who would win in a fight? Wolverine or Batman? Cyclops or the Joker? Emma Frost or Venom? Many fine match-ups are discussed. But only one can walk away the champion. Find out who! "Whoever wins, loses."

James and James find themselves going back to the well of ex-Valiant properties, this time with multi-media sensation: Turok: Dinosaur Hunter! First Greg Pak and his team of nobodies shit the bed. Fortunately, Bart Sears comes back from the past to clean it up. No quote today. Can't find my notes. Can't have everything you want in life, can you?

Chris and James look again into the Magic Mirror. From across the darkness and wind of the infernal other they imagine a bird of fire. Join them now as they discuss Osamu Tezuka's Phoenix , Volume 5: Resurrection. "If you're human you'd hate me so much you'd kill me!"

James and James return to the spinner rack of a 1993 convenience store and grab themselves a fistful of awesome: Jae Lee's WildCATs Trilogy #1-3. "Your blood bonds are too strong to be tainted by betrayal."

Let it never be said that the Xtinction Agenda doesn't care about justice. That it doesn't stand for truth. That it isn't always already here for you each and every waking moment, watching, waiting. Chris, James, and James take it all in. All four hours. All six hours. Every bit that could be bought of Zack Snyder's Justice League . His vision. Our nightmare. "Make your own future."

Chris and James, as part of their small break from Grant Morrison talk, return to the 1994-1995 comics work of David Mack. Neither of us really liked Kabuki: Circle of Blood at first, but then it grew on us. And then we talked about it in greater detail than we thought would be required. Because it turned out to be required. "I am part of the storm."

Adam, James, and James are heading straight towards the end of their mighty quest of learning. Sniper: Legacy on deck today, the fifth in the series. In this episode we find ourselves facing what looks to be a soft reboot. There are nice locales and some respectable bits of the ultra violence. Daddy issues abound. "I can do whatever I like. It's Syria."    

Chris, James, and James find themselves exploring the peanut butter and jelly sandwich that is Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca's The Invincible Iron comics circa 2008-2009. "It's not terror if civilians don't get killed, dummy."

James and James take in some Fine Art over at Fantagraphics. They thoroughly discourse themselves and whatnot about Bastien Vives, Jerome Mulot, and Florent Ruppert's The Grande Odalisque (2021). Many nudes are stolen. Or at least there are thrilling attempts. "No. The goal stays the same."

Chris, James, and James give Wandavision the once over. One of them is thoroughly annoyed by the experience. During this, they also take in John Byrne's Avengers West Coast #51-52 (1989). As source material, it is surprisingly fertile. And dumbfoundingly dumbfounding. "They'll never know what you sacrificed for them."

James and James get into some incoherent nerd talk regarding X-Men: Fatal Attractions and the Wedding of Cyclops and Phoenix (1993-1994). "Always when I'm takin' a bubble bath, too!"

Chris, James, and James take a walk over to some manga and anime, looking at the cultural moment that was Sailor Moon. Many kinky layers are uncovered. "Beautiful. All this suffering at the moment of destruction."
