Brent designed our logos and wrote the lyrics to WCPE in Kansas City. We are delighted to finally get him on the line for a podcast recording.  This week, we were inspired to talk about the comics tha...

On this week's episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!: Following John's read of some old Thunderbolts issues from Marvel, we dive into the concept of Heroes and Villains. So many times in comics, those characters switch sides, with the good guys becoming bad and the bad guys finding redemption. Is there any hero that cannot turn bad? It's a fun discussion as we examine the concept. Or course,...

On this week's episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!: We take a look at our recent reads over the last week for the #My500ComicGoal. OK, people, listen up. We have some trouble AGAIN (STILL?) within the comic book industry. Some people have not been playing nice with others like your mothers taught you. And while we're trying to offer some humor with this introduction, this is a serious discussion about people being groomed, targeted, and assaulted, never mind the damage done to everyone's careers.  In the last week, we have se...

Since we were last together to talk comics, we lost an important part of our comic book community, as the legendary writer/editor Denny O'Neil passed away on Friday. Starting with DC in the late 1960s, Denny quickly made his presence felt on Batman , Wonder Woman , Justice League of America , Superman , and his important run on Green Lantern/Green Arrow with Neal Adams. In the late 1970s, he moved...

With three decades in the business, Phil is a familiar face for comic fans in the midwest, oft...

Last night as news was breaking of one CW star leaving Gotham City, a new shining star took her place on the CW stage of heroes. A new shining Stargirl ! Stargirl is based on the 2000 DC series Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. , about teenager Courtney Whitmore, who moves with her family to Blue Valley, Nebraska, where she becomes a superhero after finding a cosmic rod in her step-father's garage. Once she...

We focus on creator George Perez for our Pick 3 choices. Man, it is so hard to keep this to just one book from each of us this week. We try to look into the future and imagine what the comic industry in the future -...

Welcome back to the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER! The great thing about doing this podcast with your friends is that we have something to look forward to each week with our recording sessions. Sometimes, we get the recording done in an hour and we are on our way. And sometimes, we re-do half of the episode because we didn't realize the recording had stopped. Anyway, we hope that our podcast is some...

We're back!  Not that we weren't going to come back, but the conversation had to be held - what do we do after episode 300? How do we top that or improve on that or even just do another show ever again? But we looked at the news of the week - NO NEW COMICS ON WEDNESDAY - and we rose to the challenge. Can we talk about comics for an hour without any new product? The answer is YES! Of course, with n...

LIVE from Kansas City and Portland, It's the WORST. COMIC. PODCAST. EVER! Episode 300 show! Seriously, when we started this show back in 2014, the thought that we would do this for at least 300 episodes had not crossed our minds. We'll do it for a little bit until we got bored, or it became too much like work. Along the way, some of you started listening. Then more of you started listening. And we...

So, since we were last gathered together, the world as we know it turned upside down and inside out. Planet Comicon this weekend? Nope, scratch that, let's push that out to August 14-16. Kids going back to school next week? Nope, scratch that, let's push that out to August, too. We got a lot of thoughts bouncing around in our heads right now, and we spend most of the time working through them. We...

We are counting down the days when we can see our friends at Planet Comicon in Kansas City, but before that, we have another con to tell you about.  With the postponement of Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, originally scheduled for March 12-15, the comic community in the Pacific Northwest was left wondering what to do next? For many creators and vendors, they were counting on ECCC as a source of...
