Shawn Marek & Jen Stansfield
Worst Collection Ever
WORST COLLECTION EVER is a comic book podcast where Jen and Shawn poke fun at their own collection of random comic books with loads of crass sincerity and scattershot nostalgia. None of the books in the collection offer anything close to quality or financial worth but our love for all of it is as real as it gets. If you want to follow along, we like to read the books in sequential order as to track the lunacy in real time! Email the podcast and talk to the hosts at worstcollectionever@gmail.com!

You Can Walk Through Phantom Stranger's Body (and It's OK) 09.08.2024 51:24
Shadowpact #1 (2006) Shadowpact is a group of paranormal-flavored heroes investigating paranormal-flavored villains and calamities. I was going to make a sly comment and say they are “Justice League Dark with a recovering alcoholic monkey” but Detective Chimp kicks it both groups so I’ll just go kick rocks. Join us as a dome of blood envelopes a Wyoming town like a Stephen King novel. Phantom Stra...
Deadpool Secretly Defends Adam Sandler 02.08.2024 51:10
Secret Defenders #17 (1994) We wrap our short duology of Deadpool stories as we cover the conclusion of his team-up with Doctor Druid, Luke Cage, Shadowoman and the hip new hero Cadaver. The Secret crew seeks to stop the maniacal Malachi from whizzing all over the time-stream just to resurrect her ambivalent lover. All this at the cost of turning kindergarteners into early on-set Adam Sandlers and...
Deadpool Brawls in a Seattle Cemetary 26.07.2024 57:57
Secret Defenders #16 (1994) It’s a new run of books as we prep for DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE with some early Deadpool content. Here, our favorite Merc with a Mouth joins up with the Secret Defenders - Doctor Strange’s (and eventually Doctor Druid’s) crew of randomly aligned heroes. In this case, it is Luke Cage (neat), Shadowoman (who?) and Doctor Druid (bleh) Check us out as we chat about Seattle...
Daredevil Has Some Juicy Thighs 19.07.2024 50:09
Daredevil #164 (1980) We’ve reached the end of this Daredevil “Marked For Death” storyline and it doesn’t appear that we’ve gotten anywhere. All we get here is a DD origin story - which is nice - but what does it have to do with him being targeted? Anyway, Daredevil shares his life story including tales about his school bully John Cena, how he became a pretzel snob and the time he watched his dad...
Incredible Hulk's Stressful Subway Adventure 12.07.2024 49:05
Daredevil #163 (1979) The Hulk rolls into town as we carry on with Daredevil not being so much “marked for death” as he is “marked for some really bad publicity” as Ben Urich closes in on his identity. Not only that, but DD has to deal with Bruce Banner spiking his fine china like a football, Foggy telling dirty jokes to priests and disco dudes sweeping up his ex-girlfriends. It will all be well i...
Bullseye Shops for a Decent Wig 05.07.2024 37:22
Daredevil #161 (1979) Daredevil is STILL marked for death and but now he’s gonna do something about it. Bullseye has captured Black Widow and put a Real Doll of her on a rollercoaster track. DD has to avoid a descending restaurant, a knife-throwing Beyonder and a barrage of baseballs to get her back. All this plus we discuss brown food in North Hollywood, wallet chains and Donald Pleasance eating...
Black Widow Has a Daredevil Statue For Some Reason 28.06.2024 38:52
Daredevil #160 (1979) We continue on with Daredevil and his “marked for death”-ness as now Black Widow enters the equation. Natasha and her Lionel Richie Daredevil bust are besieged by Bullseye and his hairbrush throwing skills. To get her back, Matt has to hit the streets, grab a towel from the Daily Bugle and do some ballet in a seedy establishment. All this plus awkward cemetery etiquette! All...
Daredevil is MARKED FOR DEATH 14.06.2024 51:49
Daredevil #159 (1979) It’s been a minute since we’ve tackled Ol’ Hornhead so let’s check out the DAREDEVIL: MARKED FOR DEATH trade paperback! It is not a “proper” or “official” Daredevil storyline but it does share the same name as a pretty good Steven Segal movie, so that’s cool. Join us as we discuss Daredevil hitting some sick tricks with his billy club, vengeful city judges, Frank Miller art a...
Batman and the Exploding Car Wash 07.06.2024 44:20
Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #20 (1991) We have finally reached the end of the “Venom” storyline and it ends with a…meh? Join us as we discuss how Batman escapes a watery grave with a twin-size bed, a weight set and 80lbs of Cliff Bars. Also, we talk about Alfred’s sadly unrealized career as a voice-over artist and cast the DC Comics version of Stephen King’s THE SHINING. All this plus we di...
Batman Versus Shark 31.05.2024 1:06:30
Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #19 (1991) Batman has finally kicked the horse meat and is ready to take on the Professor and the General in Santa Prisca! It’s going to be wild though because juiced-up men in jumpsuits (Nailz?) are under hypnosis to murder the island inhabitants, pop their heads and disintegrate their necks. Batman and Alfred seek to intervene Alfred get abducted, dangled from...
X-Men '97 Review & MYSTERY COMICS! 24.05.2024 34:32
Schedule’s a little FUBAR this week but do not fear as we bring you some sweet, sweet content in the form of our thoughts on X-Men ’97 on Disney+ — HEAVY SPOILERS ON X-MEN ’97 JUST IN CASE YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED IT YET — It’s primarily praise but we do try to hash out what Morph’s deal is this time around and how they are able to turn into superheroes AND retain their powers. Plus, Magneto’s ba...
There Has To Be a Toilet in the Batcave, Right? 17.05.2024 44:03
Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #18 (1991) Batman has been tasked with compromising Det. Gordon to a permanent end in order to get his next fix of Venom. He can’t do it though and decides to push a different older man to the ground instead. Concluding its time to get clean, Bats locks himself in the Batcave for a full month with no toiletries and possibly no toilet. Over in Santa Prisca, the do...
Batman Throws a Refrigerator 10.05.2024 34:04
Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #17 (1991) Let’s keep going with the “Venom” storyline here as Batman spirals deeper and deeper into the acrimonious abyss of substance abuse and addiction. Bats is out in the streets — dressed like The Question for some reason — pummeling thugs for intel so hard he (and we) forget why he’s doing it. We also bear witness to Batman expertly throwing a refrigerator...

Batman Loses the War on Drugs 26.04.2024 43:50
Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #16 (1991) We’ve got some Batman back in our lives as we jump into the “Venom” storyline that ran in issues of BATMAN: LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT in 1991. Venom, of course, being the drug that Bane uses t get swoll and also some guy who Spider-Man knows. Lots to unpack here as Bruce ask for permission to save a drowning girl in the sewer. It goes tragically fubar...
Savage Dragon Sleeps on a Coffee Table 19.04.2024 1:01:44
The Savage Dragon [vol 1] #3 (1992) We complete our run on the Savage Dragon mini-series this week as Dragon returns from a six-day nap to brawl with Bedrock, Youngblood’s answer to Ben Grimm or Blok from Legion of Super-Heroes. Chicago is in even WORSE shape since Dragon’s been out as Skullface and the poorly dressed Overlord make threatening phone calls and have disastrous Zoom meetings. Plus, t...
SuperPatriot Has an Excessive Costume 12.04.2024 42:47
The Savage Dragon [vol 1] #2 (1992) Carrying on with the saga of The Savage Dragon, we pick up the Dragon in the Chicago sewers looking for an obese spider man (as opposed to Spider-Man or Spider-Ham). Dragon’s been running ragged fighting crime and almost gets some companionship from his Daisy Dukes wearing neighbor gal. Unfortunately, Hellrazor and his cronies have taken over the mall, sat on AL...
Savage Dragon in the Meaty Men Parade 05.04.2024 50:23
The Savage Dragon [vol 1] #1 (1992) We don’t get around to messing with too many Image Comics but Savage Dragon is a great place to start. Outlandish in story and execution, the mighty Erik Larsen gives us a lot to talk about. For example, why does Savage Dragon have so much body hair despite being a reptilian? Is he of Mediterranean descent? Will the hair removal product Nair do the trick? Regard...

Additionally, we are bestowed a Doctor Strange / Scarlet Wit...
Spider-Man Gives the Hulk $5 29.03.2024 51:16
Marvel Team-Up #126 (1983) We wrap our run on Marvel Team-Up with a deliberately lazy issue featuring a random back-up story with Luke Cage and Hellstorm and a Spider-Man comic strip reprint featuring the Hulk In the first story, Luke and Damian find a dead body and follow the brimstone trail to a demon worshipping party for Satannish aka Kirkland Signature Satan. Action ensues as Luke throws a co...

Marvel Team-Up #124 (1982) It’s a brand-new run of books as we jump into some Marvel Team-Up. This week, Spider-Man links up with our friend Beast to fight off the vengeance-seeking Professor Power. The good professor here is mad that another professor (Professor X) did a botch job on his catatonic son’s mind so now he wants to take it out on everything X-Men adjacent. All this plus Hank McCoy’s i...

Marvel Team-Up #113 (1982) This week, we start off 2022 with Spider-Man and Quasar having a contentious team-up to defeat the ghost of the Lightmaster. Spidey get his sense working and skips out on graduate class yet again, raising the concern of his wanton disregard for educational funding. Also, Quasar walks around with business cards like he’s Patrick Bateman and conjures up phallic drilling ob...
