Word in Five

Let's love people like Jesus did, be devoted to prayer and make sure the way we speak has a 'Jesus' flavour to it!

This is what the life of Jesus looks like in us in our relationships with others. We put on the new 'kit' in Jesus' team and get rid of the old 'kit' that at one time defined us.

We need to think, day by day about Jesus - what he has done for us, where he is now, what he is making us like - so that we learn to depend upon more and more. Our relationship with Jesus impacts every other relationship we have.

It's so important that we stay connected to our head, Jesus Christ, otherwise we will be of no use and ultimately will not have life.

We need to be active in our faith - keeping going, being rooted, not being led into wrong ideas - that's a call for actively being plugged into church life. Thankfulness is part of this - may we have grateful hearts as we lift our eyes with Paul to the cross of Jesus and see all our debt nailed to the cross and paid in full.

Christ in you, the hope of glory! What a description of what it is to be a Christian. No wonder Paul is working hard, praying for harmony and full of hope.

From outsiders to insiders through Jesus' death for us! Keep going and tell others. We can be encouraged about what God is like as we look more and more at Jesus!

Jesus our Creator bled and died for us so that we can have peace and life that will never end! Our God dies for us - what a God he is!

Being in Christ gives us real hope that shows itself as we grow in faith and love. Let's pray for one another as we partner in his work and see it bearing fruit all over the world!

'In Christ' - what a way to describe what we are! And it shows itself in our love for one another.

Let's follow Jesus' example of thinking about God's word the Bible, talking to ourselves about it and talking to God about it. As we do so we will see more and more that God is good and all that he does is good.

LORD you are good and all that you do is good. Help us to see that and believe that and live by that throughout this year.

Jesus is like the sun, getting rid of the darkness, bringing warmth. He shows us what the Bible is like and how we should think about it.

God lifts up the humble - without him we can do nothing. He keeps his promise to Abraham to bless all the nations through King Jesus. May we be encouraged to tell people about Jesus, looking forward to the day when every knee will bow before him.

The LORD always does what he says he will do. Jesus came, lived, died and rose - he is the King. We can trust everything he says knowing him as a rock, fortress, shield, deliverer.

God does what he says. Jesus came and lived and died and rose again. In this world we will have trouble, but we can take heart because Jesus has overcome the world. And he brings us into his family, sharing all of the privileges of being God's children!

O come let us adore him, Christ the Lord! That's what the wise men did - may God help us to follow their example.

Jesus gives you hope that does not disappoint. Simeon was able to look forward and die in peace knowing there was a great future ahead because Jesus the Rescuer had come!

There really was a 'today' when the promised rescuer was born - this message is 'to you'. May we have the same joy and amazement as the shepherds as we go and 'see' Jesus!

Everything happened just as God said, even though it meant moving the entire Roman Empire. We can trust him to do what he says he will do. And he is a humble God who serves us - God is love. May we serve one another and in doing so show that we know Jesus, Immanuel.

God named the baby Jesus - it describes exactly who he is and what he has come to do. He is the Saviour.

God knows our fears and he speaks into them. He doesn't belittle them, but kindly encourages us to trust him. Why did Joseph take the difficult option of trusting the Lord even though there would be a cost? Because he knew the Lord is good and all his ways are good!

It's good to sing together about just how faithful God is. He does what he says - always. May we trust him who lifts up the humble and fills the poor.

Jesus brings joy to people as he sets us free from sin and one day will restore the universe. He is so kind in giving us friends and giving us all that we need to serv e him.

Jesus is the God-man. He is holy. What a Person. Only Jesus can be our Substitute and Saviour.
