The joy we experience by following Christ is worth the suffering we are promised by following Christ. The Philippians were a tremendous source of encouragement and joy to the apostle Paul as he faced suffering for the sake of Christ. Philippians 1:8-9, 12-13, 27

As Christians, we are running the race of faith. It is a marathon so we must run with endurance. How do we do that well? What things do we need to be aware of as we run? What help and encouragement does Scripture provide? Hebrews 11:39-12:2

It matters who we listen to. David was skilled in knowing who to listen to and who to ignore. As we seek wise counselors in our lives we must find people that have our ultimate good as their ultimate priority and who are seeking the Lord. 2 Samuel, chapters 6, 7, 12.

When faced with fear and a lack of clear future leadership, Israel demands a king because of their lack of faith in God who warns them, gives them what they ask for, and works to bring about the King of Kings in the end. What "kings" do you run to? 1 Samuel 8

Only those who see their deep neediness and brokenness can receive the mercy of the Good Samaritan, who calls them into a life of reflecting God's character in the world through acts of compassionate love and mercy. Luke 10:25-37

Israel failed to receive God's blessings in an epic way. God's blessings were right in front of them for the taking...instead they decided to blend in with the culture and worshipped other gods, forgetting their Own...until they absolutely needed Him. Judges 2:16-23, and selected others
