Women's Bible Study

If you are a Christian that means someone was courageous enough to have shared the gospel – the good news of Jesus with you. Do you remember who that person was? Because you will spend all eternity with God because they cared enough about you to tell you this amazing news. Are you THAT person for others?

When life gets difficult it’s easy to become fearful. We spend so much time asking the “what if” questions: What if I lose that person? What if I get sick? What if my child gets in an accident? That is no way to live life. Today we continue in Acts as we talk about who the Holy Spirit is and why He is so important in our life especially when it comes to worry!

Sometimes people get stuck and don’t want to follow Jesus because they have a past. They feel ashamed. They feel God could never love them. But that’s not true and we will learn today from a man named Levi who had to put his past behind him so he could follow Jesus!

John the Baptist had the right motive for following Jesus, and it was this: Jesus must become greater and I must become less. He must increase and I must decrease. Today let’s see what making Jesus greater in our lives should look like!

Imagine Peter, a good Jewish boy telling his parents he was going to follow a Jewish carpenter who claimed to be the Messiah! I bet that didn’t go over very well! But after Jesus arose from the dead everything changed for Peter and now he couldn’t stop telling people how Jesus changed his life!  The same should happen to us. How do we tell others about Jesus? Today we will give you some tips!

Sometimes there is this fork in the road and the question is: Are we going to take the path where we live life for ourselves or are we going to take the path of following Jesus and live our lives for Him? We will look at this today in light of sharing our faith!

Do we understand what the TRUE Gospel is because there are a lot of counterfeit gospels out there. Can we tell the difference? Where we spend eternity is at stake with which gospel we believe!

We tend to think of the church as a building. But the early church didn’t have buildings. They knew that THEY were the church and they had a mission – to get the good news of Jesus out into the world and the same is true for us! We are the church and we have a mission. Join us today as we see what that means.

When we surrender our life to Jesus something changes but this has nothing to do with religion or rules.  Instead, our heart changes. But doesn’t God give us a bunch of rules? Not really!  Join us today as we talk about this!

You had a plan for your life, and you were pretty sure it was God’s plan too. But then out of the blue – that plan tragically changed. You are shocked and confused wondering, REALLY GOD? What are You thinking?

What does the Baptism of the Holy Spirit mean? If you ask 10 different people from 10 different churches you will get 10 different answers! Why? Because some of you come from Charismatic backgrounds. Some of you come from Bible church backgrounds and there seem to be two different camps regarding this topic. Let’s see what the BIBLE actually says!!

We all sin. We all feel the weight of our sin and what that can produce is a feeling that God is mad at us. But we forget that Jesus paid for our sins! He covered our sins. Today we will see how God looks at us and we will use the illustration of potholes and asphalt to make this point!

Last week we talked about all the different spiritual gifts people have who help at our Bible Study but there are actually more spiritual gifts than what we talked about! Maybe yours is the gift of faith or the gift of healing. Today we will continue talking about other gifts of the Spirit that you might have!

We are always busy. We don’t take time to stop and smell the roses and I think the same thing happens regarding reading the Bible. We are on a time schedule so maybe we grab a quick devotional. Maybe we read a quick verse before we go out the door. But if we want to know God and what He is like we are going to have to slow down and open our Bible and read it slowly!

God created us all differently. We all have different personalities and different abilities and when we become a follower of Jesus we all use our different gifts to point people to Him!  We are all part of the body of Christ and each part matters!

Sometimes God says “no” to our prayers because as a follower of Jesus, sometimes God has a different plan for our life than what we think should happen. This week we will continue talking about the leper that Jesus will heal and what is amazing is that this man’s life plan did not include getting leprosy and yet God used it to teach us something about Jesus!

After Jesus rose from the dead He spent 40 days talking to His disciples before He ascended into heaven. But they knew Jesus would leave again and for this small group of disciples, it would be their job to get the good news of Jesus out into the world. But how would they do that? Join us today to find out!

Most of us have never had contact with a leper but back in the days of Jesus – these were the outcasts. They were hopeless and helpless. They weren’t allowed into society yet Jesus didn’t run from them but instead ran to them. What do we do with those who are outcasts?

The Holy Spirit has a job and it’s not to do weird things through people like make them bark like dogs or laugh uncontrollably. How do we know that? Because the Bible tells us so. And guess who wrote the Bible? The Holy Spirit. We can’t separate the Bible from the Holy Spirit!

What do you like to do? What are your gifts and talents? Are you using those gifts and talents for yourself or to further the good news of Jesus? How long have you been a Christian? Are you changing spiritually? Are you growing in your faith? What can you do that will further the kingdom of God?

Archeology is one reason out of many why you can and should believe the Bible is true because, unlike other religions that claim events happened, but there is no archeological proof, the Bible is proven over and over to be true by what is found under the ground! Today we will see archeological finds dating back as early as 4,000 years ago to the time of Abraham, Jacob, Joshua, and Daniel.

People say weird things about the Holy Spirit. They attribute things to Him that He probably didn’t do. The Holy Spirit told them to get a divorce. The Holy Spirit told them to marry that non-Christian. Does the Holy Spirit REALLY say these kinds of things to people? Join us today as we begin our series in Acts!
