The first semi-final game from District 96 proved to be the tail of two halves -- Harbor Beach scoring at an 85% clip in the first two quarters, with USA's Conner Gettel scoring at record pace in the second half. The Pirates would hang on to win 62-55 to advance to the District 96 Final against the Bad Axe Hatchets on Saturday, March 27.

In the District 96 Semi-Final round, Cass City picked up right where they left off on Tuesday, taking an early lead over Bad Axe. However, as the game progressed, the Hatchets took control and ended winning 58-51 to punch their ticket to the district final to take on the Harbor Beach Pirates.

In the very first game of District 96, the host school was knocked out by a pesky Cass City Red Hawk team, led by sophomore Mike Fernald with 23 points. He would hit a three as time expired to force overtime, en route to Cass City's come-from-behind win, 48-43. The Red Hawks advanced to take on the #1 seed Bad Axe Hatchets on Thursday, March 25.

In a battle for first place in the Greater Thumb West, it would take an extra four minutes of basketball to decide the winner. Reese led as many as 8 points, but the Bad Axe Hatchets would battle back countless times to tie the game, if not take the lead. Lakers extended their win-streak to three games despite nearly giving up a 10-0 lead to begin the game. After starting out the season 4-0, the Vassar Vulcans now fall to 4-3 after consecutive losses to Bad Axe, Reese and Lakers in a five-day period.
