How Jesus works is through the cross, the point where I surrender my will for my life on my terms to God's will for my life on God's terms.

The church was multi-ethnic and multi-cultural on Day One.  When these differences came to the surface, the first Christians took the tensions that arise from cultural and ethnic differences to forge unity in the way of Jesus.

Thinking you're better than others will always lead to excluding others (including yourself), but the way of Jesus offers a radical way to freedom.

Good boundaries make it possible to love others well in the strength and power of Jesus and not our own.

Expectations aren't bad, but when left unexamined, they can leave us disappointed and disillusioned with community. We need a clear understanding of what Christian community actually is to begin to experience true life together.

Whole-city impact means investing in the long-term flourishing of our neighborhood for everyone.

Whole-life community means intentionally practicing the way of Jesus together in big, small, and everyday ways.

Whole-hearted discipleship means inviting Jesus to lead every part of me - socially, physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.

We typically overlook the last chapters of letter, but in 1 Corinthians 16 we see the ways that the early movement of Jesus was deeply and personally interconnected through practices of generosity, hospitality, and personal discipleship.
