Whetro Advisors Morning Market Update

Investors sat back on Wednesday after a pretty slow start to the week leaving some doubt about whether or not we would end up with an up week overall. Tim wil sort through the bad news to find those few small nuggets of good news for you.

It definitely was not a "Good News Wednesday" unless you are looking for bargains. A number of stocks dropped which for some investors mean a chance to buy on the dip. For many investors it's a time to wait to see what the inflation numbers will look like and what The Fed will do in March.

Thursday ended being a good news Thursday following an uptick in Wednesday's market numbers. Despite underlying worries about what the Fed might do in March investors seem to be optimistic that consumers will continue to spend.

We may have to rebrand 'Good News Wednesday' as for some time now the good news has been spotty. For the foreseeable future or at least until The Fed finally stops raising rates. Mixed news from the CPI yesterday led to the mixed results. Tim will explain

If Tuesday is any indication we may have a Good News Wednesday this week. Numbers are dependent on the report coming out this morning and Tim will have details Wednesday morning.

Friday ended mixed with tech leading the losses once again. Although there are some high spots in corporate earnings reports, and Tim points those out in this report. Investors are still leary about what The Fed will do with interest rates.

A little slippage today in Wall St numbers but year to year we are not looking all that bad. Tim still feeling fantastic about what is happening with The Market but investors are still antsy over interest rates and company earnings reports.

The Thursday update comes after a "good news Wednesday" and continues the roller coaster ride we have been on for at least two years. Tim points out that the ups and downs do remain in a range at least which investors can deal with.

It really was a "Good News Wednesday" this week with The Market responding to job numbers and what Fed chairman Powell had to say about it. Tim covers it all plus what to expect for the rest of the week.

Another good day on Wall Stree Thursday gives investors hope for another positive week for the Markets. A number of reports give investors some hope that the Fed won't have to raise rates again, or at least not by much in February. Tim has all the details in this report.

Although the Market started off wildly Wednesday morning things actually ended up quite well. Early jitters gave way to a steady uptick. More corporate reports still to come Thursday and Friday but if things remain the same we could end up with another positive week for Wall Street

What should have been a "Good News Wednesday" was the victim of a mixed market on Tuesday. We lost a few of the gains made on Monday but not enough to send us into a tail spin or to make Tim worry too much about the future of the Market.

A good way to start the week on Monday with numbers once again being pulled upward by the tech stocks. Despite reports about Spotify and a few other companies cutting back on staff the numbers looked good. More corporate reports to come this week but Tim thinks we may be in for a "Good News Wednesday"

Friday ended up being a good day for investors which helped close the week on an upswing. More corporate repeorts to follow this week and if tech can continue to pull the rest of the market up we'll have a good week.

Stocks once again dropped on Thursday leaving the market looking at a down week after starting the new year off with two good weeks in a row. More corporate reports could change that but Tim takes a look at the year to year numbers and finds some solace.

It wasn't a good news Wednesday and today wasn't much better althoug Tim always manages to find some silver lining among the poor financial news. Major reports continue to filter in from the big banks and corporations. Today's reports could give us a good news Friday maybe.
