Suicide on the Rise 19.10.2022

Suicide. It isn't an easy topic to talk about for sure but one that needs to be referenced from time to time. There are 3 distinct viewpoints on suicide with small variations but your opinion on suicide boils down to 3 main categories: It's a selfish thing to do and no one in their right mind would do it. Everything would just be better without me around. You're not 1 but you can se...

Justin's Therapy Hobby 12.10.2022

For years, Fire and EMS expert and co-host of the show, Justin Schorr, has been in and out of stressful situations, therapy, you name it, trying to recover from a variety of issues. I'd go to...

The Trifecta: TikTok, White Claw, and Hookers 21.09.2022

What a wacky week it has been for law enforcement. Two stories jumped out and hit MC in the face this week and of course we had fire up the mics and talk about it. First up, Officer Breanna Straus who has some advice if you see her in your rear view mirror.  Next up we have someone who also should have known better, Georgia Deputy Police Chief Jason DiPrima, and his arrest in part of a sting opera...

MC Back in the Saddle?! 14.09.2022

Your favorite cartoon fireman, Justin, was wondering one day what it might take to get world famous motor officer and noted Soul Crusher, Jason, out of retirement and back on the bike. It turns out the only answer is a ton of money and an unrealistic set of circumstances. But why? Why doesn't the industry adapt to what the experts are willing to work for? Is it really better to keep kids on t...

Live from the Gates of Hell 07.09.2022

In some places in the world temperatures are extreme. These places include Antarctica, Death Valley, Mississippi, the Sahara and, for the forseable future, our neck of the Left Coast.  Weather experts are predicting record high heat in some parts of the Western US with some places that hover in the 90s on their worst days seeing an entire week above 100 with some days above 110. Today's forec...

Your Early Look at Office Hours: New Feature for our Patreon Supporters! 17.08.2022

Warning: Explicit Content Also Warning: We talk movies and actors and completely forget Elijah Woods' name. Many years ago, when we were recording our previous show which was laden with expletives, innuendo and clergy molestation humor, Mrs MC mentioned that our off the mic conversations were more interesting than our on the mic conversations and we would often shout "WHY AREN'T WE...

Off Duty SFFD Probie, Gun Play, and Puppies 10.08.2022

You read that right, champions, an off duty firefighter was arrested recently in California after shooting someone over a dispute regarding puppies. Not Dalmations, that would be too obvious. As a quick aside, Dalmations were adopted as Firehouse dogs because they were mostly deaf, dumb as rocks and full of energy. They would run ahead of the horse drawn teams and clear the way when responding to...

FDNY Deputy Cheif Vincent Dunn's definition of "acceptable loss of life" 04.08.2022

FDNY veteran Vincent Dunn has forgotten more fires than you'll ever see. He has published articles, guidelines and books describing things you study for your promotional exam. The man eats, breathes and keeps fire in his life. So what happens when he posts something online about acceptable loss of life at "vacant building fires"? WYE takes notice. Dunn recently posted about firefigh...

Our show always tried to share what we can learn from one another and this week we focus on three glaring issues that came from the Texas DPS investigation...

What's OUR Emergency 20.07.2022

You last heard from us on June 1st with a Steve Poltz concert. What happened the morning after that concert had both our families in chaos for almost the entire month of June. There just wasn't a chance to fire up the...

WYE Special Concert Edition 01.06.2022

Everything's Bigger in Texas...Except Cop's Waistlines. 04.05.2022

Yes, you read that right. Everything is bigger in Texas, except your belt, apparently. Wyoming says no . We all know slugs on the job in Fire, Police and EMS but can we really judge a person’s fitness simply by the size of their waistline? Texas DPS says yes. Contract EMS with Jonathan Blatman 06.04.2022

With Covid more or less shutting most hospitals down it meant that all the regular patients who went to the ED were forced to wait longer to see a Doctor. This meant many systems were having Medic units sit on patients (No, as MC learns, not *actually* sit on patients) for hours, sometimes an entire shift. As part of the plan to alleviate this burden, the State sought contract Paramedics to come t...
