What Shall I Render

The Law and Prophets bear witness to the need for Christ, and Leviticus is part of that law (Rom 1:1-2; 3:21; 7:7-13; Gal 3:24).

And He (the LORD) called. This is the opening word of what we call Leviticus. It is also the purpose of all Scripture!

Jesus is our salvation (Acts 4:12), He is the Way to the Father (Jn 14:6), our journey should always end up with Him.

God commanded Israel to deny self on the Great Day of Atonement. Denying self was prerequisite to acknowledging God's provision of atonement. In the same way the gospel calls us to deny ourselves and find in the ministry/person of Jesus Christ the truth that sets us free (Luke 9:23-24; Jn 8:24, 31-32).

God calls us to righteousness, holiness, and redemption in Christ. (1 Cor 1:9, 30)

Nadab and Abihu choose to defy God's holiness.

Jesus is the Way. No one comes to God except through Him.

The Levitical priesthood was the foundation of the Law of Moses. God provided intercession for Israel, through Aaron and his sons.

The phrase "Son of God" holds life changing truth, if we can hear it.

The peace God gives in Christ is greater than all that would try to rob us of our joy!

Sin creates a debt. God gave Israel covenant access to His demonstrative remedies under the Law of Moses, and so God teaches them His desire to atone for their failures.

When we feel uncertain, God's word can deliver life changing truth to our hearts and minds.

Sin creates an opportunity for us to trust Jesus as He truly is (1 Jn 2:1-2; 3:8).

Atonement was granted, even under the Law of Moses, but, all atonement is provided by God and based on the righteousness fulfilling sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (Lev 4, 5, 16; Heb 10)

The truth we have in Christ is given to lead us to God through Him. Lord bless us with ears to hear...

God made a way to forgive, cleanse, and cover sin. This tells us a lot about Him and about the efficacy of Christ's shedding His blood to make peace (Col 1:19-20).

Jesus is the Bread of God to give spiritual life to our weary souls. We can trust in His work at the cross to satisfy the just requirements of God's righteousness.

God came here, to our sin sick world. He did not come to establish a national holiday, nor to give people what the flesh desires. He came to bring Life and Peace, and He did that!

Sinners often seek what they cannot find, a way for them to come to God on their own. It will never happen. Jesus, alone, is the Way to come before the Father (Micah 6:6-8; Jn 14:6).

God has created a place where we can rejoice, regardless of trials, a place of peace and protection. It is a covenant place. The Place is His Son, Christ Jesus, we find these blessings in Him, alone. Peace to you as you seek Him! (Php 4:4-7; Eph 2:14).

An important part of God's covenant with ancient Israel was for them to participate in what He gave them through the covenant He made with them. Our covenant is Jesus and in Him we, too, are called to participate in what He brings us access, atonement, and standing as covenant children.

The message of the gospel and its promises were the answer to all the early church's problems. Still today, the promises of God to us in the gospel are powerful to help us face our problems.

In all the sacrifices of the Law of Moses, their ceremonies, and the intercession of the priesthood, the LORD was calling His people to know Him. Every aspect of His call was to equip them for the purpose of God before them.

God in love gave His Son that He might give His love, His Spirit to His people. We get to live lives that reflect this!
