We talk about climate change with Dr. Ankur Desai, Reid Bryan Professor of Climate, People and Environment at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  He is speaking this coming weekend at the 5th annual Alumni and Community Celebration for the CNHS - the College of Natural and Health Sciences.  The event is a major fundraiser for their scholarship program.   

This 2014 interview is with Alan Bernstein, author of "Mastering the Art of Quitting:  Why it Matters in Life, Love and Work."   This book invites us to rethink the assumption that most of us make that it's always a mistake to quit.  It suggests that Quitting is sometimes the best thing we can do.  

This 2014 interview is with Dr. Allen Frances, author of "Saving Normal:  An Insider's Revolt Against Out-of-Control Psychiatric Diagnosis, DSM-5, Big Pharma, and the Medicalization of Ordinary Life."   It is the contention of Dr. Frances that far too many people nowadays are diagnosed with various "disorders" because of behavior that once would have been regarded as normal. 

William Schaberg, a historian and rare books dealer,  has written a book titled  "Writing the Big Book:  The Creation of A.A."   It's a thorough and illuminating chronicle of the process by which Bill Wilson wrote the book that spelled out the tenets of Alcoholics Anonymous.  The book was published 80 years ago in 1939.  

Nan Calvert's monthly Morning Show visit features P.J. Liesch, an Etymologist with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, talking about the various means by which insects in Wisconsin manage to survive Wisconsin winters.  

Dr. Art Cyr, Clausen Distinguished Professor of Political Economy and World Business,  pays his monthly visit to the program to offer his thoughts on current events and issues.  

Jerome O'Connor's book is "The Hidden Places of World War II: The Extraordinary Sites where History was made during the War that Saved Civilization."   The author discusses places like Winston Churchill's war room - or Bletchley Park, where some of the most critical code-breaking work took place (as chronicled in the major motion picture "The Imitation Game." 

Matt Thome, a 2017 Carthage grad, talks about the work he does as a staff member for the Sacramento Kings - and some of the other work he has done in professional sports since graduating from Carthage.  He was back in the area as a guest panelist for the school's first Aspire Conference.  

From the archives comes this 2015 interview with sportswriter John Feinstein in which he talks about a book for young readers titled "The Walk On" that recounts the spirited rivalry between high school athletes vying to be their team's starting quarterback.
