WGTD's The Morning Show with Greg Berg

Local film expert and historian James Neibaur, a frequent Morning Show guest and the author of 25 books about movies,  offers some recommendations on interesting films to watch during this time of social distancing due to COVID-19.  

Dr. Sarah Pina, a member of the Spanish faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, joins us to talk about what it has been like for her to shift her teaching to a virtual format.  Also with us is a UW-Parkside freshman pre-med student, Gabby Richardson, who is also a Spanish minor, to talk about what it has been like to be on the receiving end of such teaching.  

From 2003 comes this interview with a Racine school teacher named Joe Kane, talking about his memorable experience as a contestant on the game show "Who wants to be a Millionaire," which has recently returned to ABC's prime time schedule.  <Joe Kane won $16,000 in his appearance on the program.  He passed away in 2016.>

This 2006 interview is with Shakespeare scholar James Shapiro, author of "1599: A Year in the Life of William Shakespeare."  Shapiro chronicles this single (and quite significant) year in Shakespeare's with an astounding amount of detail.

From the archives comes an interview with American baritone Nathan Gunn, who has sung on most of the major opera stages of the world, including the Metropolitan Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago.  (He starred in the Met's first HD simulcast - of Mozart's The Magic Flute.)  The occasion of this interview was his appearance with the Milwaukee Symphony of Britten's War Requiem.  

From 2004 comes this conversation with Robert Sullivan, author of "Rats: Observations on the History and Habitat of the City's Most Unwanted Inhabitants."     One comes away from this book with a deep appreciation for how amazing rats are. 

Dr. Peter Dennee, a member of the music faculty at Carthage College,  shares the story of earning a Fulbright Grant to work and do research in the nation of Tanzania next year.  He describes the arduous application process and the kind of work he is hoping to do in Tanzania. 

Today we present a second round of interviews with Gateway Technical College instructors sharing about what it is like to be teaching online.  Our guests are: Pat Hoppe (electrical engineering),  Maryanne Kuiper & Helene Stacy (nursing),  Tedd Lupella (surgical technology), and Rich Malloy (adult high school.)  

Psychotherapist Amy Champeau returns to the Morning Show to offer some thoughts on how we can weather the COVID-19 crisis in a way that best preserves our mental and emotional well-being.   She also honestly shares about her own difficulties with anxiety and how that has helped her to be able to help others deal with their anxiety issues.
