Life together as a church is hard. It’s hard because it can be uncomfortable, because it isn’t about you, because we will sin against each other. Hope rises as sunshine peaks through the clouds after a late winter snow storm marked by gray, dreary clouds. The same sense shines through in Genesis 11, after so much weighty judgment. Maybe you don't like the sound of your voice, or you are struggling to sing for other reasons. God still calls his whole church to gather and to sing his praises in the assembly. You have so much to sing about, whether God has given you an amazing voice or he’s given you an amazing song. Parents must assume responsibility for the teaching of their children. In our present system, we have schools and institutions, both spiritual and secular, to help in teaching our kids. These are not wrong. But it is the parent's responsibility to see that their children are adequately guided in spiritual matters. The Lord God is faithful despite our unfaithfulness. All creation will be in awe of a holy and righteous God who will show steadfast faithfulness towards a creation that is Hell-bound to rebel against him. Christianity is the exclusive faith that can save us and bring us to heaven. There’s only one God and one Savior, and the Bible is dogmatically clear on this. You can look at the world and ask what do I value and what do I want. You are made in God's image, which means you represent Him to the rest of the creation, but He has given you the authority to order things. Those who give and and those receive ought both seek the fruit of giving. The one who gives seeks the fruitfulness in the ministry of the one receiving. Twenty percent of the households at our church welcomed a new baby into their home this year. What a remarkable gift! And each child received a name that won't be found in the top ten most common names. Names carry significance and purpose. A temptation in the Christian life as we endeavor to grow in godliness is to despise the stuff that can be sources of temptation. But the things are not where the sin resides. When Jesus stood in the synagogue in Nazareth and read an excerpt from Isaiah, his hearers marveled that this hometown boy would sit down and claim that prophetic anticipation was fulfilled in Jesus. Christ has come in fulfillment of the promise spoken in Genesis 3:15, a reality that Mary was aware of as she sang her "Magnificat."
