Blessing is a theme that stretches from Genesis to Revelation in the Scriptures. A prayer of blessing may be one of the most misunderstood forms of prayer.   A blessing is not a prayer to be #blessed.  Often in our culture we equate blessings with God’s favor or prosperity or abundance of some material thing. A traditional Christian prayer of Blessing is actually quite the opposite....

Why, today of all days, are all our songs of glory in a minor key? The answer lies in this truth: Today is a day for gratitude, but it is also a day of sorrow. This evening will offer a service of scripture, music, and prayer to mark the suffering, crucifixion, and death of Jesus Christ.

Maundy is derived from the Latin word for "command," and refers to Jesus' commandment to the disciples to "Love one another as I have loved you.

During Holy Week we will be having a Palm Sunday Service, Maundy Thursday service 7:30pm, Good Friday service (7:30) and Easter service 10:00AM.   Hope to see you there!

Lent is the time where we can consider how transformative love can seep into our lives more and more, so it may overflow in all we do.  One practice to consider incorporating is a prayer of blessing, especially for those with whom we consider an enemy or in other words, someone with whom we are out of step with.  

The Examen Prayer is a powerful practice to guide to reflect upon our day, so that we can more clearly recognize the movement of God's spirit in us and among us.  This prayer is a helpful practice to help us to continue to look upward and outward this Lenten season.
