Weekly Drive-By
The Weekly Drive-By is a music review podcast hosted by two friends who've known each other for about a decade now. The first half of the show is usually free discussion with nothing out of bounds, and the second half is built around reviews of new(ish) LPs and EPs that are either trending in the online music community or unknown picks we'd like to let people know about. We don't take ourselves too seriously, and you probably shouldn't either. New episodes are (usually) released on Wednesday mornings.

This week's album: Palm - Nicks and Grazes [10/14/22] We got a new sip seen and a seasonal sip review, we got the objective opinions on the classic Halloween candy brands, we do a deep dive on pretty much all of HBO's House of the Dragon, and get critical on the issue of how modern music is mixed and mastered.
WDB 11) Blue Rev'd Up 12.10.2022 2:02:50
Today we're joined by our good friend Sam to talk about an album we've been looking forward to for a while now: Alvvays - Blue Rev [10/7/222]. We spend the better part of an hour getting into one of the more hyped releases we've covered. Then we get on to a few food related YouTube channels, and you get a few rants about shitty apartment companies and grad school along the way. Credit for the ope...

This week's albums: The Comet Is Coming - Hyper-Dimensional Expansion Beam [9/23/2022] and Szorstkie - Szorstkie [9/9/2022]. It's a long one folks, but it's a good one. The centerpiece this week is a discussion of one of the three movies that came out in 2020, Charlie Kaufman's newest film I'm Thinking of Ending Things . It's a divisive one - 82% from critics and 50% from the audience on Rotten To...

This week's albums: King Buffalo - Regenerator [9/30/22] and Angles - A Muted Reality [6/17/22] The pandemic is over! Or at least we can all officially believe so! But more importantly, we have an exclusive review of an album that's not out yet (you'll only hear this review here!), sobriety and semi-sobriety can be chill, movies are too long, California did a cool thing, new music actually isn't a...
WDB 7) Quit Your Bullshit Job and Join a Blackgaze Band 14.09.2022 1:53:57
This week's albums: Holy Fawn - Dimensional Bleed [9/9/22], Sigh - Shiki [8/26/22] We start the show with mild takes on a mild pepper, and finish up with hot takes on a band from a cold place just before what might be our first official anti-shoutout. In between, we talk about the Emmy's we didn't watch including why we don't like Mr. Squid Game, dig into David Graeber's original 2013 essay On the...

WDB 5) Classical Indian Post-Hardcore Revival 03.09.2022 1:53:33
Little delay in upload after I had to do work at my job that I usually don't do work at, but sticking with the format from last week we got reviews of two new albums: Julia Jacklin - Pre Pleasure [8/26/22] and Royal Coda - To Only a Few at First [8/12/22]. Stick through it for conversations about dinosaurs, some talk and clips from the first annual Birmingham Folk Fest, a follow-up on a band we'v...

Two new albums this week to try out a new format: The Chats - Get Fucked [8/19/22], and Panda Bear & Sonic Boom - Reset [8/12/22]. We start off with a correction from last week before giving some thoughts on recent political news in the US and Finland, expectations for HBO's House of the Dragon, and whether or not there's any definitive version of a given album, or even a piece of art in a bro...

WDB 2) Running on Empty: Car Crash Edition 12.08.2022 35:21
No music review this week! We kinda forgot to record that part after Zoom kicked us out. But this week, we dig deeper into some energy drinks, talk about the old Skittles controversy, and give some thoughts on designer water bottles.
