Wake Before the Day

In John 11 we are reminded that while Jesus was God he was also very human. He had friends whom he loved. When Lazarus died we got a glimpse of Jesus' humanity, he wept with his friends. This gives us a powerful image of what it looks like to be dead in sin and then alive in Christ! We also see how Jesus ministers to Mary and Martha in vastly different ways, what do we have to learn from him?

Let's discuss Jesus being the Champion of Heaven, our Shepherd, and the importance of avoiding false teaching.

Lord, help us to: I.D. our blind spots, fear you more than others and be open to joining you in your work around us

John tells a powerful story of Jesus positioning himself between the Law and the sinner as well as disputes about Jesus and his ministry!

John 7 gives us another glimpse into how Jesus handles fame and worldly power. He's not interested in the kind of fame the disciples are, he desires a fruitful ministry with followers who genuinely long for the kingdom of heaven to come to earth.

When it comes to joining God in his work we often hesitate by asking questions like, "How is this going to happen?" or "Am I qualified for this?" or "What if I don't have the right answers?" In the "Feeding of the 5,000", Jesus invited the disciples to join him and like us they doubted and asked a lot of questions!
