Paul wrote this letter back to the church that he planted in Thessalonica, Greece. This city was a port city. It was very transient and large. Port cities historically have had a loose environment because of the transitory nature of people leaving and coming. There was kind of an “anything goes” attitude. This week we learn how to remain strong even in the midst of a lost and sinful world.

We lead by shining light in the world. Jesus said, “You’re the light of the World! You’re the salt of the earth.” We shine God’s light to the circles around us, to the people, to the situations, in our family, in our work. We’re the light of the World – not the light of the church.
