Nel Vangelo di oggi Maria si trova all'esterno del sepolcro, piangendo per la perdita del suo Signore. Non riconosce immediatamente Gesù risorto, ma quando lui la chiama per nome, "Maria", il suo cuore si apre alla verità e riconosce il Maestro. The Book of Baruch reveals  part of the Lord's relationship with his people . The exile was necessary to teach Israel to trust in him (2:5). The nation acknowledges its sin and spiritually returns to the Lord by seeking his wisdom and law.

Lamentations  articulates the pain experienced in the collapse of Judah and Jerusalem , in 586 B.C.E. Third-person narration both describes and explains the suffering, but the book insistently moves toward direct, first-person articulation of the unbearable pain and devastation and God's responsibility for it.

Because Jeremiah prophesied in the final years of Judah before God's people were exiled to Babylon, it makes sense that the book's overarching theme is judgment. Indeed, the first forty-five chapters focus primarily on  the judgment coming to Judah  because of its disbelief and disobedience.

The book of Isaiah is  filled with sobering accounts of Israel's sin and rebellion and warnings of their coming judgement . But along with warnings, Isaiah also offers a message of hope—a suffering servant, a coming Messiah, who would come to establish God's Kingdom on Earth and create a new Jerusalem.

The book of Sirach  praises the study of the law, the wisdom of the men of old and their prophecies . Its author is well-read and rearticulates traditional Jewish wisdom for his generation, centering it on fear of the Lord, and clearly asserting that wisdom is a gift from God.

The main message of Ecclesiastes is that  life is fleeting and meaningless without God's gift of wisdom and eternal perspective . The pursuit of wealth, power, and pleasure is futile and ultimately unsatisfying, while the fear of God and obedience to his commandments lead to true happiness and fulfillment.

The Book of Proverbs  assumes that divine revelation is communicated to individuals through careful and correct thinking, as well as through prophetic inspiration . This conception leads to the view that the wise man lives in harmony with the divine will; the fool brings disaster upon himself.

The book of Psalms  expresses worship . Throughout its many pages, Psalms encourages its readers to praise God for who He is and what He has done. The Psalms illuminate the greatness of our God, affirm His faithfulness to us in times of trouble, and remind us of the absolute centrality of His Word.

The book of Job  gives an account of a righteous man who faithfully responded to difficult trials . Job's experience invites us to ponder difficult questions about the causes of suffering, the frailty of human existence, and the reasons to trust in God, even when life seems unfair.

The story invites us to see that  God can and does work in the mess and moral ambiguity of human history, using the faithfulness of even morally compromised people to accomplish his purposes . The book of Esther asks us to trust in God's providence even when we can't see it working.

The book of 2 Maccabees  tells the story of a family of seven sons and an unnamed mother who sacrifice their lives in the name of religious freedom . King Antiochus IV of the Seleucid empire outlaws observance of Jewish holidays and worship.

The Book of Judith is  the apocryphal story of a Jewish widow who murders an Assyrian general to save her town from invasion . When Holofernes sieges the city of Bethulia, Judith seduces the general and murders him in his sleep. The assassination gives the Israelites the advantage they need to defeat the Assyrians.

The first book of the Maccabees is  a history of the rebellion of the Jews against their Syrian rulers in the 160s BCE . The rebellion's leader was Judas Maccabee, and from his family and its success sprang a dynasty that ruled Judah for the century before the arrival of Herod the Great.

This book is  primarily concerned with the problem of reconciling evil in the world with divine justice . Tobit and Sarah are pious Jews unaccountably afflicted by malevolent forces, but their faith is finally rewarded, and God is vindicated as both just and omnipotent.

The book of Ezra  provides an account of the return of two groups of Jews from Babylon to Jerusalem, where they rebuilt the temple and their community . As students study the book of Ezra, they can learn about how the Lord enables His people to overcome opposition and accomplish His will.

The book of second Chronicles  covers the time from Solomon's ascension to the throne (971 BC) until the southern kingdom of Judah was finally carried into exile in Babylon in 586 BC . The focus of the book is on Judah.

The book of first Chronicles contains the story of King David. Especially, the book describes his plans for the temple (the house of God in Jerusalem). David gave careful instructions to the priests. He wanted everyone to serve God properly.

The book of 1 Kings  provides an account of the death of David, the reign of his son Solomon, the decline and division of the Kingdom of Israel after Solomon and many of his successors turned to idol worship . It also recounts the ministry of the prophet Elijah among the northern ten tribes of Israel.

The Bible is the holy scripture of the Christian religion, purporting to tell the history of the Earth from its earliest creation to the spread of Christianity in the first century A.D. Both the Old Testament and the New Testament have undergone changes over the centuries, including the the publication of the King James Bible in 1611 and the addition of several books that were discovered later.

The book of first Kings follows the history of the kings of Judah and Israel untill the destruction of Jerusalem. Its serve a touch to those experiencing exile in Babylon in the hope that they might gain a new self-understanding . It is a story of the monarchy's failure and deserved judgment.

The book Second Samuel recounts the long reign of David, beginning with him becoming king over Judah and Israel, followed by his brilliant military success and consolidation of the kingdom, and concluding with his failures and flaws as a human, a father, and a king.

1.     David's anointing as king over all Israel reveals God's faithfulness in fulfilling His promises. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of acknowledging God's role in our victories and successes. Lord, help us recognize Your faithfulness in fulfilling Your promises.
