June 8 and 9, 2022 edition of Views on the News from the Couch 08.06.2022

Send us Fan Mail I spend most of today’s podcast on the Texas School Shooting.  I’m still not saying I have answers but am trying to understand things and offer my thoughts.  I suggest we each should think of who we honor and who we say thank you to and who we cheer.  Those are our priorities.  Let’s make them good ones. https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/06/politics/georgia-trump-investigation-fake-elec...

June 7, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 07.06.2022

Send us Fan Mail After yesterday’s marital advice podcast it is back to Views on the News and a catch up day covering D-Day, the Boris Johnson no confidence vote, Peter Navarro’s arrest, Monkeypox, and why our Presidential nominees suck.   https://www.newscientist.com/article/2323019-monkeypox-dna-hints-virus-has-been-spreading-in-people-for-years/   https://rumble.com/v17jlex-is-peter-navarros-in...

June 6, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 06.06.2022

Send us Fan Mail In today’s podcast I offer marriage advice which is kind of funny because I am totally unqualified to do so.  I attended a wedding this weekend and had a few thoughts to share.  So I did.

June 2, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 02.06.2022

Send us Fan Mail Today’s podcast was a catchup on the news with some thoughts on China and Iran.  Not comforting thoughts.   https://openthebooks.substack.com/p/top-paid-la-lifeguards-earned-up?s=r https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/may-finally-know-why-many-192600977.html https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/other/one-third-of-americans-making-250-000-live-paycheck-to-paycheck-survey-finds/ar-AAXXFaj...

Send us Fan Mail In today’s podcast after the QUICKHITTERS I take another stab at the Texas School Shooting.  Nothing profound as this is a difficult subject but I am taking you through my attempt to struggle with this subject.   ·        https://nypost.com/2022/05/31/durham-lost-because-he-treated-fbi-as-a-dupe-rather-than-clinton-collaborator/ ·        https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10...

May 31, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 31.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail  In today’s podcast I start with a few thoughts on Memorial Day with special attention to the heroes who defended Wake Island.  I struggle with whether or not we should send MLRS’s to Ukraine and go out on a limb by suggesting we need to be kind to police in the Texas School shooting who may have made mistakes.  Lastly, a Congressional budget Office report US the economy and the b...

May 27, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 27.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail Today’s podcast is all over the map.  More on the NSBA schoolboard letter from last fall, the Howard Sussman trial by special prosecutor John Durham, the Texas School shooting and related calls for gun control, and the Russia/Ukraine war.     https://nypost.com/2022/05/23/school-board-org-wanted-biden-to-send-national-guard-to-districts-report/   https://nypost.com/2022/05/26/fbi-...

May 26, 2022 Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 26.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail In today’s podcast I dig deeper into gun murders and reluctantly offer my solutions.  I say reluctantly because this stuff is hard.     https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2022/02/03/what-the-data-says-about-gun-deaths-in-the-u-s/

May 25, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 25.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail In today’s podcast I sadly offer my thoughts on the Texas shooting.  Also sadly, I cover the plight of the Uyghurs via a BBC article on the leaked Xinjiang Police Files.  And I note that the Georgia early vote was triple the last midterm.  The new voting law did not suppress the vote.   https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/editorials/record-georgia-turnout-exposes-the-democr...

May 24, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 24.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail Are American’s afraid to speak their mind?  Yes except for the very liberal.  In today’s podcast I cover this issue and more.  My suggest is do not heed the caution not to talk politics.  Do.  Talk.  And listen.  And learn.  And be friends.  #globalwarming  #Russiancollusion   https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/23/politics/biden-china-taiwan-explainer/index.html https://www.nationalrevie...

May 23, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 23.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail I would love for you to listen to today’s podcast but if you must pick one or the other I suggest the  video I summarize of Bill Maher talking about the trans issue.  It is well done.  Fair.  And needs to be heard.  #trans https://jonathanturley.org/2022/05/23/how-the-sussmann-trial-inadvertently-revealed-the-role-of-clinton-in-the-alfa-bank-scandal/ https://www.realclearpolitics....

May 20, 2022 Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 20.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail In today’s podcast I addressed the fallout from the Buffalo shooter.  The media coverage that the alleged whacko shooter was driven by mainstream Republicans really pissed me off.  I researched The Great Replacement Theory and dove into this issue.  Warning, my comments may piss some off.  https://www.foxnews.com/politics/turkey-russias-secret-weapon-inside-nato https://www.foxnew...

May 19, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 19.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail Folks, I am an imperfect human being but I am not a racist and I am pissed that the media seems to be implying I am a racist because I am a Republican.  The shooting in Buffalo was awful but is not evidence that I am a racist because of that idiot’s actions.   Most of my comments on this will be tomorrow but a few lead today’s podcast.  After getting that off my chest I suggest fo...

May 18 Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 18.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail In today’s podcast we cover a lot of ground and address question including how we would feel if aliens said take me to your leader and how did Georgia have record voter turnout with a voting law accused of being Jim Crow on steroids.  We also revisit the policy debate that will never end.  Brexit.

May 17, 2022 Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 17.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail Among other subjects today, I am still struggling with the Buffalo shooter and feel it is too soon for conclusions.  His manifesto that I cannot get my hands on is being used to batter Republicans.  I don’t think that is fair nor is it unique. https://youtu.be/dLECCmKnrys   https://www.dailywire.com/news/fauci-collins-shared-in-secret-nih-royalties-totaling-350m-watchdog-report ht...

May 16, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 16.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail Today’s podcast has quite a few QUICKHITTERS and then I preliminarily review the Buffalo shooting to say that at this stage we should all denounce the shooting and not use it to score divisive political points.  After some delay, I try to understand the baby formula crisis and share my views.  And Ukraine, time to talk a bit about Ukraine. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

May 13, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 13.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail In this podcast I argue, yes argue, that we need more nudgers and fewer shovers.  Veering between two extremes just is not effective.  And more thoughts on the recent abortion bill and Ukraine.   https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2022/may/11/xi-jinping-step-down-rumors-suggest-amid-harsh-chi/   https://www.yahoo.com/news/senate-leaders-push-quick-ok-174047615.html   https://www...

May 12, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 12.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail Today’s episode covers 2 main subjects after the quickhitters.  The abortion bill that failed to pass the Senate and an attempt to address the question if the rich pay their fair share of taxes.  In both cases it seemed the hard data wasn’t available and I concluded that we have a bumper sticker method of discussing subjects.

May 11, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 11.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail Oh, I long for the internet.  Trying to do a podcast including the research with the internet down.  Not easy.  Still, today’s podcast tries to explain my personal horrific 2022 investment experience  as well as touching on a few other subjects.  Not my best podcast but you get to see how I work when I am roughing it.

May 10, 2022, Views on the News from the Couch 10.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail Has the Right moved further right?  In today’s episode of Views on the News from the Couch I tackle that question. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/bidens-wh-press-secretary-brian-kemp-stacey-abrams https://www.yahoo.com/now/joe-manchin-becomes-punching-bag-083036992.html https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/FYFRGDA188S     https://townhall.com/tipsheet/timothymeads/2019/07/16/flash...

May 9, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 09.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail Today is catchup Monday where Views on the News from the Couch catches up on the news over the weekend including Putin’s May 9 speech and his references to Ukraine, makes numerical comparisons on Covid vaccines, and comments on the Dow Jones record recently vs 3 years ago.  I venture into the trans issue and yes, linger longer than I want to on the abortion issue.

May 6, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 06.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail In today’s Views on the News from the Couch podcast I address the issue of CRT.  Yeah, probably a stretch for an old white guy but I try.  Please listen.  If you have an issue with what I say please tell me.  But be informative and kind.  I’m trying. https://www.bbc.com/news/health-61327778   https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/peace-stability-taiwan-strait-is-critical-japa...

May 5, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 05.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail SHOWNOTES Another day where I concentrate on abortion though I promise to not do that for the next few days.  I’m still more on process than my own views on abortion.  For background, the Mississippi law seems to be exactly where the majority of Americans are and a tad more liberal than some European laws.  The Mississippi law allows abortions in the first trimester but only in sp...

May 4, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 04.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail If I do say so myself, I think this podcast gets to an interesting take on the abortion issue and demonstrates the value of the filibuster.  See if you agree. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/why-justice-ruth-bader-ginsburg-disapproved-of-roe-v-wade

May 3, 2022, Edition of Views on the News from the Couch 03.05.2022

Send us Fan Mail Wow, a leaked draft Supreme Court opinion on the Mississippi abortion case suggests the Supreme Court had an initial majority to overturn Roe V Wade.  Not modify it but overturn it.  I review this subject, Ukraine, and several others in today’s podcast.  Please check it out and share. https://meaww.com/apple-employees-work-from-office-racist-open-letter https://www.reuters.com/wor...
