David Jafaru returned home for treatment after an accident that caused him to lose his job. The first time insurgents attacked his village, he managed to escape, losing his fiance in the process. Unfortunately, he wasn't so lucky the second time. After spending a month in captivity with terrible living conditions, his health has taken a turn for the worse.

Maryam Adam, a woman of extraordinary selflessness assumed the role of a mother and father at an extremely young age.  She was forced into motherhood at age 13, forced to drop out of school, flee from an insurgency, and into displacement. With everything she has been through, she is determined to give her children a better life.

For 105 days, Bilyaminu was held captive by kidnappers. During that time, his family tried everything they could to raise the ransom demanded, including putting up their houses and farms for sale. But this proved very difficult because of Nigeria's Naira redesign policy at that time.
