It’s those exhausting times when we deal with people, circumstances and faith — and especially our hearts — that require intense effort that connects deep within our souls. Thankfully, we’re not alone in these personal battles. And such adversity is nothing new in the human experience. In fact, the Bi...

We all have family. For some that’s a joy. But for others, it’s a painful reminder. Either way, we know that family shapes us and affects the trajectory of our lives. What’s more, we want our family to be the best it can be. Family matters to us — and it also matters to God. And how we form and play our role in it largely determines how we experience it. That’s what we’re exploring at Velocity in...

What happens when we die? It’s a question we’ve all pondered, and it’s been answered with theories ranging from nothing to everything. In the Bible, Jesus tells his disciples that through his death and resurrection — and his return to God — he will prepare a place for his followers before returning to bring them along. It’s a hopeful promise for all who believe in Christ: that when we die, being w...

Instead, it’s because we haven’t practiced, passed down or upheld the standards of the skills n...

The final 12 books of the Old Testament contain the writings of prophets of Israel — men whom God set aside as messengers to that nation. These scriptures are often called the Minor Prophets. However, that’s no slight against their contents’ importance, but simply a reference to their size. Each book conveys pivotal messages about God’s justice, righteousness, compassion, and love for His people,...

Being a disciple means being a follower. And as followers of Jesus, mere belief isn’t what sets us apart as disciples. The actions and the rhythm of our lives are the indicators that we are in sync with our Creator. The rhythms of discipleship aren’t a mystery that we need to figure out either, constantly wondering if we’re “where” God wants us to be in our relationship with Him. Putting in to pra...

We're so grateful for our staff and volunteers who have dedicated so much time and effort throughout this atypical year, and this final Sunday of 2020 will be one in which we can all gather for worship in the same way.
