What makes you happy? Many of us have something that immediately pops into our minds when we consider this question. Most of us can think of something that, if it happened, or if it appeared in our lives, we would be happy. For others, we feel like we struggle to truly be happy no matter what we do or have. Whether or not many people feel like they are preparing for a massive rhythm shift, it is a common experience in our lives to go through seasons of resetting, especially as Christians. Our entire journey is about sanctification and becoming, so resetting is constant.

“Do what makes you happy.” You’ve probably gotten this advice at some point in your life—but is it good advice? And did Jesus ever say it? Jesus shared a lot of wisdom that's been recorded in the Bible. But lately, He also seems to share a ton on Instagram, on screen-printed mugs, and in those images your aunt posts on Facebook, too. But how much of it is true? Where’s the line between what He actually told us, and the Things Jesus Never Said?

Following Jesus’ crucifixion, his followers expected what anyone expects after someone dies—that the person would remain that way. But one of Jesus’ followers, John, gave an eyewitness account that summarized the main event surrounding Christianity: Jesus rose from the dead. In this seventh and final sign that John documents, he makes the case that Jesus is exactly who he claimed to be.

At different points in our lives, many of us wonder why a good God would allow bad things to happen. And without a clear response, that dilemma could cause us to question God’s existence altogether. The Gospel writer John documented an occasion where Jesus not only brought his friend Lazarus back to life but also demonstrated how God can exist in the midst of a world of evil and suffering.

In order to demonstrate who he was, Jesus performed a number of miracles, which the apostle John referred to as “signs.” The first of those signs was at a joyous occasion where Jesus turned water into wine. The second sign was in the midst of a heartbreaking circumstance in which a father desperately asked Jesus to heal his dying son.

Beginning with first-century followers of Jesus, trusting in Jesus has been a response to evidence—not simply a hope that something is true. The Gospel writer John referred to the miracles of Jesus as signs that gave evidence of who Jesus was. The first sign John documented was when Jesus—with a nudge from his mother—attended a wedding and turned water into wine.

The one thing that may totally change how you spend and save your money has nothing to do with spending or saving. It’s a question. And those who have been brave enough to answer this question have never regretted it.

Are you mastering your money or being mastered by it? Maybe it’s time to flip the script. Instead of striving to have enough money to satisfy your appetites, Jesus encouraged his listeners to flip the script on how they approach money.

Jesus gave us a strong warning to avoid one thing when it comes to our money. Most of us assume we’re doing a pretty good job staying away from it, but one simple question may show us otherwise.

Many people are conflict averse avoiding disagreement at all costs. Conflict may make for some great break up songs, however, we'd most of us don't want to be the subject matter of them. But, conflict is inevitable in every relationship, especially romantic relationships. So, what can you do to navigate relational differences?
