UNW Chapel

Dr. Ryan Griffith is the founding Dean of the Classical Christian Honors College at the University of Northwestern.  Ryan's heart for the classics was born out of his childhood and he shares his passion with us today.  

Have you ever struggled following God through depression?  Pastor Chris shows us how Psalm 42 illustrates a path to dealing with depression, but also highlights a surprise that Jesus also went through Psalm 42 when he died on the cross.  

Professor Sorenson is a passionate professor and Chair of the department of Media Arts.  She's also an incredible storyteller and today Ann teaches us to we can each live a better story!  

Pastor Lotzer is the head pastor at Mercy Road Church in Lakeville, MN.  As a former Army chaplain, Mike has incredible stories to share about how we should commune with God and let Jesus lead our life.  

The story of Jehoshaphat is a testament for what we can expect when God brings a breakthrough in our lives.  

Dayton is the Associate Director for Worship Arts and Spiritual Formation at Northwestern and he shares his encouraging story with our campus today.  

Pastor Chris walks us through 1 Samuel where Jonathan receives a calling to kill the Philistines.  

Pastor Doug Miller is the Senior Pastor at Plum Creek Church in Colorado and is on campus to share some encouraging words with UNW.  

Pastor Chris takes us to Joshua 6, where Jesus meets Joshua and gives him instructions about conquering Jehrico.  

Joel is a current student leader and UNW and shares his story of finding Jesus and how he changed the trajectory of his life and calling.  

Using Moses's terrifying ask, "Show me your Glory, God", we see that life without Jesus is not worth living.  

Jack Eason is a nationally-recognized speaker and shares his testimony through lessons he learned from a life changing encounter with a Dominican prostitute.  

Pastor Drew joins us to share the familiar story of the Burning Bush--and highlights Moses' posture change through his meeting with Jesus Christ.  

Patti Wiens is our Distinguished Alum and we celebrate her this Homecoming week by honoring her story

We get the chance to see that Jacob wrestles with Jesus.  Having been lying and tricking others his whole life, one moment with Jesus completely changes Jacob's outlook--and his identity as only Christ can do. 

Pastor Chris uses the story of Abraham and Isaac as the basis for Trusting God through Trials.  In the end, we see that Jesus is our ultimate provider.  

Dalene Fisher serves as the Interim VP for Academic Affairs at UNW and her story is awesome!  

Jacob Rasmussen is the church planting pastor at Vertical Church.  He joins us today to share about the fact that Jesus sees us.  Jesus pursues us in our pain and specifically sets his signs on sinners and sufferers.  

President Hoornbeek kicks off the MyStory Monday series with UNWavering encouragement for the year ahead.  

Chapel begins with a renewed promise from the Scripture---that we grow with every glimpse of Jesus (2 Corinthians 3).  Pastor Chris shows us what Jesus looked like as he walked through the Garden of Eden.  

The biggest lie that Satan tells us is that "you can't change."  2 Corinthians 3:18 illustrates that transformation is for ALL.  Pastor Chris paints the picture for what we will be studying this year (Jesus) and that we are going to become glorious just by looking at him.  

In our final chapel of the school year, Pastor Chris shares Paul's final statement to the Galatians (6:18).  "The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit brothers.  Amen."  We hope that you have been blessed by this year's chapel content and Christ-inspired grace.  

Anita Cline-Cole is an alum and current leader at the University of Northwestern.  Her story inspires us--even in the midst of grief--to love God and trust what he has in store for us.
