Unraveled & Unwritten
I don't know about you, but I feel like more often than not, I'm coming unraveled. Which is funny because while I do feel like I'm coming unraveled, I also feel like I'm so tightly wound up it's a wonder I can even move. AND, even though I'm in a state of unraveling, I apparently like to make things more challenging for myself and question LOTS of things. All these stories people have told me, stuff I've been telling myself...I can't NOT try to unravel those. So it's like there is unraveling happening all over the place and I'm standing in the middle of the chaos trying to keep my composure wh...

Episode 90: The One With The Story BEHIND The Story Of "Rudolph" 25.12.2022 6:09
We all know the story of "Rudolph." But do you know the story BEHIND the story of "Rudolph?" Well, pull up an ice block and lend an ear, and give this a listen. It's short, I promise. And it may give you a good conversation starter if there are some awkward moments at the family gathering later today! Merry Christmas, my friend! Did you love this episode? If so, I want to know! Send me a DM @awake...
Episode 89: The One Where She Gets Deep About "Rudolph" 20.12.2022 24:02
You know the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, right? It's that endearing story of a reindeer who's different from all the other reindeer, and he basically gets bullied and treated like crap because of it. I loved watching that stop-motion special from 1964 as a kid. I knew how he was being treated wasn't right, but I didn't realize how messed up it actually was until I got older. And watch...
Episode 88: The One Where She Gets Deep About "Fred Claus" 13.12.2022 1:14:07
Do you love stories about Santa Claus? Me too! And I feel like this one is super underrated. But...it's also not about SANTA - it's about his brother, Fred! This movie is funny. But it's also pretty deep. So grab your floaties and maybe a glass of "Jingle Bell Juice" and join me as we "deep dive" into "Fred Claus." Did you love this episode? If so, I want to know! Send me a DM @awakentheextraordin...
Episode 87: The One Where She Gets Deep About "Elf" 09.12.2022 22:18
You've seen "Elf," right? If you haven't, we can't be friends. Seriously though - most of us have seen that movie about the elf that's not really an elf, but has more Christmas spirit than any REAL elf who calls the North Pole home could ever have. And we know how it ends - with everybody singing, and Santa's sleigh soaring high into sky because "Christmas Spirit" has been restored. Watching that...
Episode 86: The One Where She Riffs About Giving & Receiving 06.12.2022 34:46
Are you "A Giver?" Do you love giving to others, being kind to people for no reason other than it feels good and "right?" Do you like giving, but feel like you're beating your head against the wall to come up with something to do that's more thoughtful than expensive? Now...how are you at receiving? Do you turn down peoples' offers to do something nice for you, or ask them "Are you sure?" or tell...
Episode 85: The One Where She Talks About "Maybe" 02.12.2022 19:24
It's easy to get stuck in a rut. To not see all that you're capable of because you're so deep in that rut that it's pretty freakin' dark in there. But what if you just imagined getting out of that rut? What if imagining a different possibility for you was all it took to actually get out? What if, when you get out of that rut, you now see a world of possibilities, instead of IM-possibilities? I cam...
Episode 84: The One Where She Talks About "The Montana Manifestation" 29.11.2022 1:20:50
You've heard the term "manifestation," right? Well, here's a little story about how I "manifested" my move, and my family's move, to Montana after living in California for 44 years. And - I think it's important to note - I'd never been to Montana before we moved here. When I think about it...I don't know that this is a "manifestation" as you hear everyone describing it. I believe it was God puttin...
Episode 83: The One That's About Being Thankful 24.11.2022 19:46
How are you feeling today? Are you feeling incredibly thankful, or are you feeling like "what in the heck do I have to be thankful for today?" Well, I get it. Trust me. Sometimes life is hard. Life sucks. And it's challenging to find things to be grateful for during those times. So sometimes you need to channel your inner Laura Dern from that scene in "Jurassic Park," and dig through the pile of c...
Episode 82: The One Where The Podcast Turns 1! 22.11.2022 56:46
I launched this podcast on October 31, 2021 - so that means it's been around an entire year! In this episode I share what I've learned over this last year as a result of having this podcast - what I've learned about podcasting, podcasting etiquette, and myself. I also share a bit about why this podcast means so much to me - and you, my friend, are a big part of that. So...welcome to Season 2! Than...
Episode 81: The One With The Q & A 05.10.2022 26:57
Don't you love when people do Q & A sessions? Even if you don't ask the question, I always find the randomness fun, and I like learning things about people that I may not have known before. It's been challenging to record podcast episodes lately. Just being honest. But doing an episode like this - even though it was in my car - allowed me to get kinda deep without having to focus too much (whi...
Episode 80: The Storyteller Series - Valerie Vedral: The One Where They Get Derailed & Talk About Going Vegan 27.09.2022 1:20:08
Have you ever sat down with a friend and meant to talk about one thing, and then ended up talking forever about something else? That's how this conversation was with Valerie from "The Vulgar Vegan Cupcakes." I wanted to chat with her about veganism, vulgarity and cupcakes...but instead...we really went down our own little rabbit hole, and chatted passionately about plant-based diets, why we don't...
Episode 79: The Storyteller Series - Rick Werry: The One Where They Talk About Life Turning Your World Upside Down & Landing Right-Side Up 21.09.2022 1:30:22
Do you ever look at other people and think "well, that won't happen to me?" Or do you ever look at other people and think "I'm going to be different - I'll surprise everyone." But what if the something that you thought would never happen to you - did? And what if those odds you thought you were going to defy - you didn't? What happens then? Well, Rick Werry has his own story to tell about a situat...
Episode 78: The One Where She Tells A (Funny) Story About Confidence 16.09.2022 21:27
Do you consider yourself a confident person? If so, awesome. If not, that's great too. Want to know why? Because I don't believe that anyone is ever completely confident. I believe confidence is a choice. I believe you can choose to be confident while also feeling concerned about what others may think of you, being afraid of things not working out the way you hope or just generally "putting yourse...
Episode 77: The Storyteller Series - Annelise Williams: The One Where They Talk About Trauma and Reiki (& A Little Shemar Moore) 13.09.2022 1:57:42
Do you ever watch those "true crime" shows or listen to those podcasts? If you do, then you'll want to tune in to this episode. Annelise shares about some pretty heavy stuff her family went through, and how that trauma impacted her before she was even born - and after. She also talks about her experience with Reiki, how she initially thought it was total BS and "woo woo" - but once she experienced...
Episode 76: The One That's About Snickers 10.09.2022 44:09
You're probably thinking "an episode about the candy bar?" No. It's an episode about my dog, Snickers, who WAS named after the candy bar. I adopted Snickers in January of 2003, and said goodbye to him on September 2, 2018. He was a huge part of my life, and still occupies a huge part of my heart. There's not a day that goes by where I don't think of him...and miss him. It may seem unconventional t...

Then this is an episode you should listen to! And I'm not saying that just because it's my podcast. On this week's episode, I chat with Katie Doughty. Katie is an amazing human being who is passionate...
Episode 74: The One Where She Riffs About Being "Too Sensitive" 24.08.2022 22:29
"Why are you so upset?" "Don't be so emotional!" "You're too sensitive!" If any of these statements sound familiar, you may want to listen to this episode. I've often been labeled as "overly sensitive," "too sensitive," "overly emotional...." - and it hasn't been a compliment! Being sensitive and shedding tears was something I felt ashamed and embarrassed of! But I had a realization recently as I...
Episode 73: The Storyteller Series - Ashley Buss: The One Where They Talk About Working Through The Hard Stuff & Living Your Purpose 16.08.2022 1:43:23
Have you ever met someone knowing they're amazing, but then you get to know them and you're like "Whoa!" Because they're even MORE amazing than you thought? That's how I felt upon chatting with Ashley. I invited her on the show because I love her positivity, her sunshine-y vibe, and how open she is about her experience with Crohn's Disease. After we finished our call, I sat there in tears - becaus...
Episode 72: The One Where She Riffs About Crickets & Self-Doubt 12.08.2022 16:04
Have you ever doubted yourself? Yeah - me too. And it's like juuuust when I think I'm "past that," self-doubt and Imposter Syndrome are standing there like "Hey - Hello - What's Up, Old Friend?" I'm here to tell you that while self-doubt is something many of us experience, it's totally OK to want to give it a swift kick in the a*s and send it on its way. But sometimes - it's not that easy. And som...
The Storyteller Series - Pawnee Simons: The One Where They Talk About Life, Loss & Being Brave Enough To Be YOU 09.08.2022 1:29:37
Have you ever had something so unexpected and so painful happen that you began to lose sight of who you were? Like, you were living...but you weren't LIVING ? This is one of the many things that Pawnee chats with me about in the latest episode of The Storyteller Series. Pawnee is part of a large family, grew up working on the family's ranch, and then experienced a heartbreaking loss that turned he...
Episode 70: The One Where She Riffs About Acne Scarring, Lipo & Self-Worth 05.08.2022 26:35
Do you have some insecurities about how you look, but ultimately it's stuff you're actually OK with? Like, it would be great if you had a smaller nose or a smaller butt, but you're also OK with things the way they are? And really - that means that you're OK with the way YOU are? If that's the case (which I hope it is), have you ever had people still plant weird seeds of doubt in your mind - kind o...
Episode 69: The One Where She Talks About Courage, Curiosity & Using Your Voice 29.07.2022 29:48
*Heads Up: There is some wind at the beginning and end of this episode, since I recorded this while on a walk. I hope you still choose to give it a listen - it doesn't last too long. When you have a question about something, when you're simply curious about something because you want to know, and don't, do you ask your question? Why, or why not? I saw something on Instagram that made zero sense to...
Episode 68: The One Where She Riffs About Dropping The Towel 22.07.2022 20:47
How much of what you do, or don't do, is impacted by what others may think of you? It's easy to let what others may think or say about us sway our decisions - especially when we're wrestling with our own insecurities and not feeling "good enough." But here's the thing: when we allow what others might think or say to keep us from doing something that we want to do, we're kind of handing our power o...
Episode 67: The One Where She Talks About "The Date Ditcher" 15.07.2022 17:58
Have you ever had a bad date? Yeah, me too. In this episode I share one of my experiences with you. Hopefully it makes you laugh, or at the very least entertains you and makes you happy YOU weren't on this date! By the way...sometimes things don't need to be super intense and introspective. Sometimes you need to just laugh and shake your head in amusement. Which is what I did as I was recounting t...
Episode 66: The One Where She Riffs About Taking Sick Days 18.06.2022 31:46
When you feel like crap, do you take a sick day? When you're struggling emotionally/mentally, do you take a sick day? I feel like most people DON'T take sicks days - even when they're available to them through their employer (aka "paid sick time"). Why is that? When we put ourselves and our health on the "back burner," what message are we sending ourselves. And again...why? It's time we made our h...
