We kick off both our Annual Focus (Called by the Gospel) and our Advent sermon series (Christmas Calling) with a sermon that really looks at a small line from Jeremiah 33 - "This is the name by which it shall be called, 'The Lord is our Righteousness'" and how that relates to our vocations.

We finish up not only our "Communion of Saints" series but the entire "We are the Body" annual focus with a repeated Gospel reading from Mark where we talk about being God's household, and how being in the house is good news.

We count down to the 2nd to last Sunday of the Church year and start looking beyond our own lives to heaven and the Resurrection by asking ourselves some tough questions about our expectations for the afterlife and what God promises us.

We talk about the widows of 1 Kings and Mark 12 and what it means for us to be forgiven and renewed by a Jesus whose forgiveness for us is everlasting.

In the second sermon in our "Communion of Saints" series about the 3rd article of the Creed and the Holy Spirit's work in the Church - we talk about All Saints Day and comforting and our mourning with our experience of the beatitudes.

We end our "In One Body" series by talking about the armor of God in Ephesians 6, and end talking about something that most people seem to miss in the reading. 

We continue our "In One Body" series by talking about a reading from Ephesians that is considered offensive to many people, but we dive into it and look at what it means for us to be Christians, husbands, wives, and single persons.

Today we talked about wisdom and advice, and how God's best piece of advice isn't advice at all, but is the wisdom of the Cross that says "you are forgiven".

We talk about what it means to be a part of the Body by talking about how it is like theft when we don't function as our place in the Body.

We talk about the Ascension, what God has given us in terms of responsibilities to serve others in the Church, and how it is a clear sign of His love for us that He trusts us with His Church.

We continue our “In One Body” series, a walk through Ephesians, by talking about how we are all placed in the same family by God, and how that is a present tense reality for us.

Hatfields, McCoys, Noles, Gators, Canes, Republicans, Democrats, etc etc. We separate ourselves in all sorts of ways, but the amazing thing about the Gospel is how being covered in the Blood of Jesus means that we're all together - at least in terms of our sins and forgiveness.

Today we start a new series based on the book of Ephesians called "In One Body" by looking at the pronouns and the communal nature of the Body of Christ that Paul is pointing churches to, both in early and later history. 

"We pay a lot of attention to our failure," but do we pay attention to sin and righteousness? We talk about Jesus' "failure" to do a great work in His hometown and how winning and losing, succeeding and failing, is not the same as righteousness and sin.

We talk about faithfulness and how God shows His faithfulness to us.

We talk transcendence vs immanence and how God brings us a world that is both transcendent and immanent through the gift of Holy Baptism.

This Sunday the readings are about the Sabbath, but Sabbath is really just resting in God's Word. We talk about how we find our rest in God's Word, a part of that Word being our Baptisms, and PJ explains what he used to do with pastors that went a little long.

We kick off our series "My Name is Baptized" with the celebration of Holy Trinity, which of course means the Athanasian Creed. We talk about fine china and our Baptisms, ownership and inheritance.

We finish up our "signs of life" series talking about a first grade desk, the Holy Spirit, and growth.

We continue our "Signs of Life" series talking about something....maybe not so dignified, but important nonetheless.

We talk about "reproduction" and how it matters to us as the Body of Christ.
