Throughout history, from Genesis (the first book of the Bible) to Revelations (the last book of the Bible), God’s heart has been to bless all creation and to enjoy His fellowship forever. Today we will look at the Bible and discover how God’s promise to bless the nations through Israel serves as a motivation for us to make God’s heartbeat our priority.

人人都希望得到福气。世人通常以物质的丰厚来衡量是否有福。但我们都知道，物质的享受不能确定是否真正的有福，而和世上的福气都是暂时的，无法带进永恒里。而是愿意将最美好的祝福赐予我们，就是祝福的爱子耶禾，使凡相信祝福的，就必须着。 从创世记，我们可以看到上帝乐意祝福人类的心意，我们要从上帝呼唤亚伯拉罕成为万民的祝福来看，上帝也同样呼唤你我成为别人的祝福。

James, being one of the first pastors of the Church, knows the problem of an action inconsistent with its faith. But he also knows the trouble with a tongue inconsistent with its faith. In fact, he addressed it right smack in the middle of his letter which was addressed to the scattered churches all over the world. What troubles can our tongues cause and how can we control it?

雅各书只有五章，却用将近一章的篇幅来谈勒住舌头的重要性。作者在第一章就说过，真正虔诚的人必须勒住自己的舌头(雅 1:26)。第三章更是多加发挥：「原来我们在许多事上都有过失；若有人在话语上没有过失，他就是完全人，也能勒住自己的全身；舌头在百体裏也是最小的，却能说大话。」(雅 3:2,5) 舌头虽小，它的影响力、破坏力却很大，好像火一样，可见要在话语上没有过失，需要自己谨守，再加上上帝的帮助。

聖經學者Lehman Strauss認為雅各第三章「是解決當今教會生活中大多數問題/弊病的關鍵。」 我們也可以進一步的說，這也是解決當今我們家庭中大多數問題的關鍵。我們要時常求上帝幫助我們制伏可怕的舌頭！

God disciplines us because He hates the sin that we commit, and He wants us to be holy and righteous. May we understand today why God disciplines us and also be reminded as His children how we are to respond to it.
