Truth that Transforms

Main point: Fruitful hearers obey the Word of God and proclaim the gospel to others.

Main point: True believers produce spiritual fruit.

Main point: Jesus Christ leaves His hearers with only three options. We can discount Him as delusional, denounce Him as demonic, or declare Him to be divine.

Main point: Mark explains how Jesus chose twelve common men to be His disciples and carry on His work so that you understand His choice of you.

Main point: As the Son of God, Christ is unmistakably in command and control of His mission.

Main point: Christ uncompromisingly stands for truth and love against tradition and legalism.

Main point: God’s purpose for the Sabbath day was to give His people a weekly rest, but the Pharisees had turned a divine blessing into a dreaded burden of rule keeping. In Mark 2:23- 28, Jesus announces He is Lord of the Sabbath and calls us to enter into His eternal rest.

Main point: Jesus uses three illustrations to contrast dead, legalistic, mournful religious form with the living liberty of the joy of grace that is found in His presence.

Main point: God’s grace and forgiveness do not come to the self-righteous, but to sinners and outcasts who respond in faith to Christ’s call.

Main point: Jesus demonstrates His authority to forgive when He heals a paralyzed man with the words, “Your sins are forgiven.” He still forgives all who come to Him in genuine faith.

Main point: The compassionate Savior trades places with an outcast leper so that we see His loving sacrifice to redeem us and lead us to be compassionate toward others.

Main point: Jesus demonstrates that He is the compassionate yet powerful Servant King. He casts out demons and heals diseases to validate that He is the Savior who came to rescue souls from sin and Satan. He wants you to trust and obey Him as He alone is the Servant King who possesses the power to impart eternal life and fit us for resurrected glory in heaven.

Main point: Mark has already highlighted Christ’s authority over Satan, sin, and sinners in verses 12–20. Main point: After conquering the tempter in the wilderness, Jesus begins His ministry in Galilee as a preacher, heralding the Good News that God’s kingdom had come in the person of the Servant King. Jesus calls you to repentance from sin and faith in Him so that you will enter His eternal kingdom and joyfully tell others the good news of the gospel.

Main point: Christ’s victory over Satan demonstrates His righteousness and authority and shows us how to overcome temptation.
