The ‘blessed one’: their path and prospect   The ‘wicked’: their path and prospect   Who is the ‘blessed one’?

What are you afraid of?   ‘Dismayed and terrified’: The ‘people’s choice’ messiah Vs the champion of Gath (v1-11)   ‘Who is this?’: The Spirit-filled messiah Vs the fear-filled Israelites (v12-31)   ‘The battle is the Lord’s’: Sword and spear Vs the name of the Lord Almighty (v32-58)   Jesus our Champion: Take heart!

The Lord is revealing the new King in His good timing.   The Lord reveals how He chooses in accordance with His heart.   David is the Lord’s choice in fulfilment of the Lord’s good purpose.   David, the Lord’s chosen king, is empowered by The Spirit of the Lord.   The Spirit of the Lord continues His work in the world – to bring peace to the hearts of humanity, through Jesus Christ.

The people’s choice? The folly of the people’s messiah (ch 13) The self-centredness of the people’s messiah (ch 14) The rebellion of the people’s messiah (ch 15) The wisdom, love, and obedience of the Lord’s Messiah …he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross!

How are your listening skills?   The Lord’s word was rare: We are in the dark without God’s word (3:1-2)   The Lord revealed his word: We serve God by listening to his word (3:3-18)   The Lord revealed himself: We know God through his word (3:19-4:1)   ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening’

Looking for a leader…   The deep anguish of a self-led world:   Does God know?   Is God in control?   Does God care?    The leader God provided: an unexpected deliverance

Our great hope is the resurrection                   Stand firm in the truth   Remember you’re in the family of believers   So, persevere in the wonderful gospel realities   With a settled determination     Work Hard for the Lord   What is the work of the Lord? … it’s gospel work   Paul’s challenge, ‘Always’   It gives real purpose to our lives        The resurrection changes everything
