Transforming Community - Thursday Bible Study

There is a perception that God in the Old Testament is different to God in the New Testament. Some perceive God in the Old Testament as 'militant' and see God in the New Testament as 'loving and forgiving'. In this study we explored similar acts of God in the New and Old Testaments to establish that God has not changed.

We revisited the ministry vision, mission and strategic priorities for 2024. We also discussed our goals for 2024.

We had the privilege of hosting Pst Paul Okhuoya who spoke on the purpose of wealth using different examples and illustrations from the Bible. Before our guest speaker for tonight arrived, we reflected on giving based on 2 Corinthians 8:1 - 15. We discussed one of the purposes for giving (equality) and God's grace in the area of giving.

In this session, we explored what meditation is within the context of Biblical / Christian meditation.

At this session, we explored what it means to study the Bible by doing a quick word study of the word 'study' or 'examine' in the New Testament. We also explored the spiritual reasons why we need to study the Bible. We apologise for the section of the study where the facilitator had to go and drink water because of a cough.

In this session, we focused on Biblical narratives with special emphasis on the life of Joseph (Genesis 45: 1 -5 cf Genesis 37 - 50).

In today's session we explored the genres of the Bible and the classification in the Hebrew and Christian Bible.

We concluded on the recap on the teaching on the Trinity. Today we focused on God the Spirit.

We reviewed the teaching we did on the Trinity and briefly explored the distinctiveness of the Father and Son. Session will be concluded next week.
