The last one! We conclude our study of Abraham this week by looking at one of his las acts recorded for us; securing a wife for his son Isaac. There are lessons about purity and holiness and lessons about priorities and faithfulness among many others. 

We could talk for hours about all the lessons and foreshadowing contained in the story of Abraham being told to sacrifice his son Isaac. But we refrained and kept it short! Nonetheless, this is a remarkable story that makes us take a closer look at our faith as well as God's plan for each of us. 

The son of promise is born! Isaac's birth has been anticipated for a long time but it's still hard to comprehend given the respective ages of Sarah and Abraham. But, as usual, God leaves no doubt who is control!

Sarah and Abraham failed as they waited for the child of promise to be brought into their lives. They became impatient and decided to take matters into their own hands. The relationship between Abraham and Lot is a fascinating one. In Genesis 13 we get a glimpse at the challenges that existed between the two men and their herdsmen...but more importantly, we see how Abraham navigated that conflict and displayed a great deal leadership in an effort to preserve peace. 

We're discussing in more detail the three main promises that God made to Abraham as recorded at the beginning of Genesis 12. If you only take one thing away from the discussion this week, let it be this: God keeps His promises! He kept the ones He made to Abraham and He'll keep the ones He makes to us as well.

Today's topic centers around the directive God gives Abraham to leave his homeland and the faith Abraham demonstrated by doing just that! He truly was a man who walked by faith...literally! I pray that all of us can learn from his example and do the same in our lives today.
