Friends of the Rosary: Preceding the feast of the Ascension, that in some countries is celebrated tomorrow, there were the three Rogation Days in the old calendar. Rogation comes from the Latin word rogare , which means to supplicate or ask. The purpose of Rogation Days is to beg God for His mercy, to turn away His anger, and to ask Him to bless the fruits of the earth while protecting us from nat...

Friends of the Rosary: The Universal Church commemorates several saints today: St. Ubaldus, St. Brendan, St. Honoratus of Amiens, and St. Simon Stock. The sacrifice and the blood of saints and martyrs keep the faith and the eternal truth alive. One of the saints is Simon Stock (1165-1265). He was a hermit member of the Carmelite order. On July 16, 1251, St. Simon Stock had a vision of Our Lady, wh...
May 15, 2023, St. Isidore the Farmer, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 15.05.2023 30:16
Friends of the Rosary: We honor today the holiness of St. Isidore the Farmer (1070-1130), a twelfth-century Spanish day laborer and farmer who, although working many hours a day, never failed to attend daily Mass and spend time praying before the Holy Eucharist. He married a maid-servant, a good Catholic young woman as simple and upright as himself, who also became a saint, Maria de la Cabeza. The...

Friends of the Rosary: God is pure love; that is His essence. And He desires for us to emulate Him by demonstrating love to one another. In order to participate in the divine community of love, we must be devoted followers of Jesus Christ. To become His disciples, we must obey His commandments. As He told His disciples, which we read in this Sunday’s Gospel (John 14:15-21): “If you love me, you wi...

Friends of the Rosary: On May 13, 1917, in Fatima, Portugal, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three poor shepherd children — Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco. Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the memorial of Our Lady of Fatima. Today is also the traditional commemoration of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament, to honor her relationship to the Holy Eucharist and place her before us as a mod...

Friends of the Rosary: In the Gospel today, Jesus calls us his friends. He said to his disciples ( Jn 15:12-17 ): "I have called you friends because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. This I command you:...
May 11, 2023, Thursday of the Fifth Week of Easter, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 11.05.2023 23:59
Friends of the Rosary: Jesus shares the same divine nature as the Father. The relationship between the Father and the Son is one of perfect love and unity — and through the Son that we are able to know the Father and receive His love and mercy. In today's Gospel ( Jn 15:9-11 ), Jesus said to his disciples: "As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my comm...

Friends of the Rosary: “The impossibly good news is that Jesus and the Father have invited us to participate in the life that they share, to enter fully into their coinherence,” wrote Bishop Barron reflecting on this Sunday’s reading (JOHN 14:1–12) when Jesus revealed the mutual indwelling—the coinherence—of the Father and the Son. “In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places,” Jesus sai...

Christ also said to his disciples: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid." Christianity is a religion of salvation and fulfillment, but it&#...

Friends of the Rosary: Jesus said to his disciples ( Jn 14:1-12 ): “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me.” As faithful Catholics, we are called to trust in Christ completely, even in the midst of difficult and troubling circumstances. Jesus reminds us that He is the way, the truth, and the life, and that by placing our faith in Him, we will find peace a...

Friends of the Rosary: We pray the Sorrowful Mysteries today. This Rosary was recorded last Friday, April 28th, during the 18-month funeral mass anniversary of Maria Blanca in Greenwich, Connecticut. Friends of the Rosary: As we read yesterday (Jn 14:6-14), Jesus said to Thomas, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." "The Father who dwells in me is doing his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works themselves." "Whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so th...

Friends of the Rosary: Today is the Feast of Sts. Philip and James the Less, two of the twelve apostles of Christ. Immediately, Philip began to convert others, finding his friend Nathaniel (St. Bartholome) and telling him that Jesus was the one whom Moses and the other prophets had foretold. Christ declared to St. Philip, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father…I am the Father and the Father is i...

Friends of the Rosary: St. Faustina wrote: "Suffering is the greatest treasure on Earth. It purifies the soul. In suffering, we learn who our true friend is." We suffer in the light of our faith. Our faith is the precious gift we have received from Heaven so we can understand the mystery of suffering. With Christ, we carry our own cross — or crosses — and with Him, we enter the glory of...
May 1, 2023, Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 01.05.2023 31:46
Friends of the Rosary: Today is the memorial day of St. Joseph the Worker. On this day, we see human labor in the light of faith. Pope Pius XII established this feast in 1955 to give all workmen a model and protector. We honor the chaste spouse of the Virgin Mary, in the month dedicated to the Blessed Mother. St. Joseph offered his daily work to God with patience and joy, becoming an example to al...

He said: "My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27) The Divine Shepherd was willing to sacrifice everything for his sheep. He did not let suffering, persecution, or rejection det...

April 27, 2023, Thursday of the Third Week of Easter, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 27.04.2023 28:52
Friends of the Rosary: At that time, Jesus revealed to the crowds (Jn 6:44-51) that He was — and He is — the bread of life. "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world." Indeed, when we take the living bread of Christ we become alive in a way that we were not before. Thi...

Friends of the Rosary: Yesterday, in the Gospel of Mark (Mark 16:15-20) we were given a laconic account of the Ascension: "Then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God." The Evangelist suggests that now Jesus is the King of Kings on his throne in Heaven. Bishop Barron explains: “This means that Jesus is directing the thi...

Friends of the Rosary: Amid the difficulties and struggles, we understand that our main mission, as followers of the Word is to help build the Kingdom of Christ on Earth. Amazingly, the Author of Life has trust in us. St. Teresa of Avila explained it very well: “Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes with which He looks the world with compassion....
April 23, 2023, Third Sunday of Easter, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 23.04.2023 28:24
Friends of the Rosary: As St. Paul explains in the second reading (1 Pt 1:17-21) today we’ve been ransomed from our ungodly conduct with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. The spotless unblemished lamb of God emptied himself and suffered death on the cross as a ransom for many. It’s difficult for our narrow minds to understand this mystery. Think in this episode of a life of a martyr, St. Maximil...
