Three Minute Thoughts

Men plan God laughs. It's kind of my motto in life. From plans to forgiving painful encounters, this chapter is packed with a punch.

Paul reminds us that following Jesus isn't easy and we will face struggles too hard for us to bear. But when God brings us through it will give us a witness to others in their time of struggle too.

Paul concludes his letter with a quick itinerary. But why?

If the resurrection didn't happen then we're all in a mess! But thanks be to God it did and this is why it's so very important.

There's a lot to say about how things function and why they happen the way they do.

We often have a weird mixed up view of what love is. Paul sets the record straight in this passage. But who is this love describing?

We all have received a gift from God. You don't have to like the one you have but you do have to use it for the right reason.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it. Just because you didn't get caught doesn't make it right. What's your motive in doing or not doing something. That's the part that's really important.

Paul talks about roles, authority and why things are the way they are. We are all working together for the same purpose. Probably should realize that.

Paul reminds us that sometimes we need to put ourselves aside for a minute so that we can build better relationships, ones that last.

Paul addresses some concerns about foods they can and cannot eat as well as why this is even important.

Paul addresses marriage and why it's not for all people.

Paul teaches in this chapter how to handle disputes and disagreements in a way that is healthy and demonstrates what the body of Christ is supposed to look like.

Paul addresses sexual immorality and how it impacts the life of the follower of Jesus. Caution: if you listen with children this might be an episode you want to listen to first.

The role of your spiritual mentor is vital but do they know the difference they've made for you? Have you shared that with them?

When we focus more on ourselves than the body of Christ we are easily divided.

When we look for anything from the church other than Jesus and the reminder of his death and resurrection, we'll be left lacking. But when we realize that the church exists to help us connect with Jesus, then we'll find meaning in the other areas of life naturally.

Paul writes a letter of correction and encouragement to the believers in Corinth. He begins with a powerful and critical lesson for all of us.

As Luke wraps up his account of the life of Jesus, he recalls one of Jesus final moments on earth.

Pilate took the easy road to protect himself. He washed his hands of the trouble that was right in front of him. But Jesus didn't rebuke him or condemn him.

Jesus invites his followers to eat the Last Supper with him. Among those in attendance is Judas, his betrayer. Jesus still welcomes him. Perhaps a lesson there for us.

Jesus reminds us that there will be challenges coming but those challenges are meant to make us ready for his return.

Jesus is challenged by the leaders of the church. He reminds them that just because you don't like the message doesn't mean it's not true.

Jesus teaches Zacchaeus that he's never too far from God's love. Then challenges the disciples to take a risk with their faith for the sake of the kingdom.

We can do all the right things for the wrong reason and it's still wrong. Probably ought to get the heart right before we go patting ourselves on the back for good actions.
