Tryout season is here. And everywhere you go… Rinks, stands, parking lots..There’s one conversation happening: Who’s making the team. Who’s moving up. Who’s getting cut. Who got “picked.” But what nobody really talks about? The decisions behind it. And I’ll tell you right now, It’s not as simple as people think.

There’s a gap in hockey. A big one. Between what people think the game is… And what it actually becomes. And the truth? A lot of parents… and a lot of players… Don’t have a clue what’s coming.

But every once in a while… They feel something different. They feel… Opportunity. Not promised. Not guaranteed. But possible. And that changes everything.

It doesn’t happen overnight. This coach has been around. They’ve seen it. The “pre-picked” rosters. The quiet conversations. The pressure to take care of certain players. They’ve been part of it… maybe even gone along with it. And eventually… They hit a line. And this time? They don’t cross it.
