The Weekly Substandard Expanded Universe

With Thomas gone, Chris and Ryan take the opportunity to talk about their favourite sport: Formula One. Ryan also has some vivid dreams and Chris can't quite figure out how Hulu works.

Thomas wants to be the next host of Jeopardy. Chris is (again) buying appliances. Ryan is moving into the Kinney Palace. And we have all watched Primer, the masterpiece from the genius Shane Carruth. (this is not like a PBS Masterpiece garbage. I actually mean it is a masterpiece.)

The gang's back together! We chat about Chris and Ryan's holiday trips throughout the US. Thomas wonders whether Chris is actually white trash. Ryan questions his brother's choices and chats about his appeareance on the Subbeacon Podcast. If you want all the juicy behind-the-curtain stuff, we've got it. Chris and Ryan have also seen The Suicide Squad.

The show is down two hosts because they have escaped on vacation. Matt, friend (and frequent guest) of the show, have dug up a movie from the 1990s that provides a great look at today's social media (and college) culture! Come for the jokes about the Olympics, stay for the discussion on causeheads and merkins.

We can't even describe how excited we are to be able to use "poop" in the episode title two weeks in a row. Almost as happy as America's Mayor in drag. Or Kanye living at the Mercedes Benz Stadium. We also chat about other things on the show. Like the movie Abduction and Ryan's new gig as a booker and manager.

Chris returns to the podcast fully loaded with thoughts and criticism about Thomas and Ryan flying solo in the previous episode. The boys have tons of billion dollar ideas for inventions, Ryan has signed up for a mystery box, and Chris is watching Bosch.

The podcast storms back with an episode discussing the greatest Englishman who ever lived (Christopher Nolan). We also have time to chat a little about weddings from around the globe and learn about other cultures. Thomas has been on dating apps again while Apple is releasing a new watch and William Shatner has gone senile.

The boys delve back into a threesome of nonsense talk after their megathread guests last week. Plus Chris has watched Succession (mention Greg impression in some form). John Mayer - music and musicalistics.

We brought three members of the Megathread on the show to give us some of their rankings. What is the best state in the union? The answer might surprise you. Which Disney Channel Original movie is in the top 30 movies of all time? And who are the hosts of the Subbeacon/Substandard/SSEU Podcasts with the best opinions?

Draft Day? More like Daft Day! We have one question for Kevin Costner: Why? Are you in financial trouble? Listen to the boys discuss the way-too-long NFL promotional movie known as Draft Day (2014). Chris dives into a manhole, Ryan has thoughts about Adam Neumann and Thomas creates an awkward silence when he wants to discuss Odell Beckham Jr's attractiveness.

On this week's episode, Chris and Ryan gush over some space show that they have been watching. The boys also provide marriage advice although Thomas is concerned about how long those things can actually last. Chris and Ryan also get their NBA and movie skills tested in two separate quizzes.

Our own Matty joins us to chat about the 2021 film Me, You, Madness. We watched it so that you do not have to. Chris struggles to find a nice pair of shorts, we learn everything we need to know about Tysons Corner, and take a quiz on the escapades of conservative media so far this year.

JVL hops on the show to discuss the greatest dick joke of all time. We also have time for ladder porn, Flash's baseball career, and a quick preview of movies left to come out in 2021.

In this episode, we add another foreign accent to the SSEU menagerie. Shay Khatiri joins the show to chat a bit about Iran, Hungary, and his life in Phoenix/D.C. We also find out why the Bulwark editors hate him and hear Ryan trash the otherwise universally loved show Entourage.

Here is a new expansion in the ever extending SSEU extension universe. Lara, Tonya and Jan recorded the first ever Lady SSEU but never one to be upstaged Chris demanded to host.

In a first for the podcast, we are joined by an Aussie to discuss all things Vienna! Okay, maybe not. But we are joined by an Aussie. We chat about Aussie rules, disappearing prime ministers, Andrew Jackson, and how Kansas is actually just like the Gold Coast. Our guest also chose a movie starring Russell Crowe (we get a Crowe-ranking!) and Cate Blanchett to round off the episode.

The boys were supposed to discuss News of the World but no one liked it (and only the Swede finished it), so instead we are treated to a discussion about explorers in the Amazon, college basketball, a celebrity game, and a ranking of the worst people that you find online.

The boys return to 2004 and the second installment in the most successful heist-franchise of all time. Ryan has thoughts on Potato Head, Chris has watched some movies he wants to talk about, and Thomas is happy to once again live in a civilised country.

The boys chat about Chef, birth control, Star Trek, movies about Wall Street, and review the draft from the previous episode.

The third biannual SSEU Draft took place with Thomas and Chris at the helm together with guests Adam and Steven. Adam also eats crow about his NFL predictions while Chris is quizzing the youngster Steven on ancient methods of telecommunication.

How many kids can Ryan fit into a three bedroom condo? We might be about to find out. Chris has been immersing himself in Swedish culture. Thomas has a crush on an epidemiologist.

In the second (or so) hour of our chat with Tim Miller we address the really hot topics. What does Tim actually know about the Denver Nuggets? Does he think Hilaria Baldwin is Spanish? And Ryan informs Tim (for no reason) about how well equipped the gentlemen of the 90s Indiana Pacers were.
