30 April 2023 | After realizing the Hebrew midwives failed to carry out his genocide plans, he now commands his own people to do it. He calls on them to take any Hebrew boys that are born and to throw them into the Nile. The word for ‘throw them’, it means ‘to abandon’. Pharoah wants them to abandon the infant children to the waters, abandon them to drowning, abandon them to death.

Two midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, have an important role in the exodus story (Exodus 1:15-21) as they disobey Pharaoh's order of killing infants if they are a boy, which then sets in motion God's plan for his people.

It also gives us a picture of a God who cares for his people that He chooses to step into our lives today to free us from our sins. There is no sin that Jesus can't redeem us from. That freedom starts today as we accept Christ as our redeemer.
