The Teachable Heart

How can we rejoice amidst the current state of affairs?  Today's message will provide some practical help.

Strength and peace don’t come from military might alone, they are gifts from God when we trust He’s in control.

Humility recognizes that others have something to offer – even if they are younger and less experienced. Whereas, pride closes the mind and fools us into believing we’ve learned everything we need to know.  Do you have the humility to learn from others?

If you’ve placed your faith in Christ, you have both His forgiveness and freedom from your guilt. Live in that freedom. Don’t allow the burden of past sins to weigh you down.

David shows us another side of prayer which most of us likely never consider.  So let's consider it today!

Our ability to pick and choose among our entertainment choices (e.g., Pandora/Netflix) can bleed over into our approach to the Christian life.

Until He returns, Jesus will always have A church – but unless you’re willing to flex a bit to reach future generations – it may not be YOUR church!

Indifference matters. There is a time and place for rest and recreation. But consistently choosing our comfort over our responsibility has consequences.

Faith isn’t just what we believe – it’s what we live. Remember, people cannot see what is in your heart or your head, they only will see what you do.

God’s Spirit within us is NOT to empower us to do life alone.

Those who are willing to thanklessly do the right things for the right reasons still exist!

Oh how this world needs you and me to see people the way Jesus saw them. Lord, give us eyes for the one who needs to be noticed.

There are no unimportant parts to play in His kingdom; that small group around you matters to God!

Today let's take a lesson from my salt and pepper shakers, Mr. & Mrs. Pillsbury Doughboy.  The pull of our culture, and the busy-ness of life will constantly move us away from God and into areas we don’t want to be.

Placing our faith in Christ means accepting both His forgiveness AND our cross – we can’t have one without the other

What’s your attitude toward helping others? Are you hesitant? Or do you eagerly seek opportunities to help?

The world tells us, “You are what you own.” Don’t believe it for a second…

Who is helping you live out what you proclaim to believe?  Who are you helping to do likewise?  

Would you believe nobody's perfect - including you!  But who has your permission to point out when you’re wrong?

By God’s design, we ALL need help from others sometimes.  Who can you turn to in your hour of need?

How do you view interruptions to your plans?  Our perspective determines how we handle them.

There is something better than taking revenge against our enemies; it’s doing good to them in love.

Should "Let's Go Brandon" be uttered by Christians?  Think about what might happen in our nation if millions of Christians actively prayed for those in leadership instead of cursed against them.

Who is controlling your life?  Is it you, or God?  Who do you think would do a better job?
