How do I secure undivided devotion in a world full of pressure? More than ever, we have the ability to compare ourselves to those around us. This week Paul addresses undivided devotion and how our greatest satisfaction is found in Jesus.

Does God care about my job? Most people will spend the majority of their waking hours working. It is therefore essential to consider what our work will be, how we will work, and to what ultimate end.

Marriage is a gift from God for our good but can easily become a bitter battleground. When spouses struggle over intimacy we need God’s instruction to restore the beauty of the one-flesh relationship.

Today's culture teaches us to believe that sexual choices are governed by individual rights, needs, and physical autonomy. But the Bible teaches that Christians are governed by someone else.

In chapter five, we see Paul bridge a difficult situation in the Corinthian church: a situation of scandalous sin met with an equally scandalous reaction by the church. It becomes clear that the Corinthian church had one serious problem - sin. As followers of Jesus today, we have the same problem and, as the church in Corinth learned, there is only one solution. Jesus.

Paul uses his linguistic skills in this section of Corinthians to convey two important thoughts to the church in order to combat division and a seemingly pervasive lack of maturity, both spiritually and morally.

The church ‘body as a temple’ has led to all sorts of misunderstandings and disunity among the Church both as license and leash. We will examine both and hopefully see clearly Paul’s message.

The desire to grow is hard-wired into human beings. This is the main reason for the $11 billion self-help industry. But spiritual growth cannot be self-manufactured, it can only come from a source outside of us.

Knowledge and wisdom are connected but not they are not the same. In a world where it’s so hard to decipher between truth and error, where do we go for wisdom and how do we access it?

The message of the cross runs counter-culture to the values of a self-sufficient world. But the only way to experience the wisdom and power of God is to follow His program instead of the current of the world.

Unity within the church is essential, but somehow Christians find ways to fracture and divide into factions. The Bible shows us the way to unity within the church that Jesus prayed for.

Let us ask the question of ourselves in regards to our personal walk with Christ, “Who is influencing who?”

The Bible teaches that we have a real enemy that seeks to discourage, distract, and destroy. Most Christians are completely defenseless with no idea how to fight back.

Part of following Jesus means learning to handle conflict with other Christians well. Jesus told us how to handle it, but we tend to suffer by doing our thing instead.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Faith in Jesus Christ is not a blind faith. Every Christian has a reason or reasons they have chosen to trust Christ, and that is the greatest gift we can share with anyone. But the manner in which we share our reasons are critical.

Relationship with God is not a distant and lifeless arrangement. Like any good human relationship it is fueled by intimate, ongoing communication between God and His Child.

This week we examine what it means to sacrifice.

Salvation is a gift from God, through faith in his son Jesus. It is only by grace through faith that we are saved, which was established in Ephesians 2:8-9. This is foundational to the true gospel. We cannot save ourselves, and Christ died so that while we were yet sinners, we can be made right with God. No amount of being good in itself can save us.

Disciples cannot be mass-produced in a class or program. Instead they are painstakingly custom-made by the Holy Spirit, and with the disciple’s participation.
