Today we hear from Mike Burrows from Open Doors, who advocate for the persecuted church across the world. For the last few weeks, we've been studying a 1st-century persecuted church - the Thessalonians. In that letter, Paul reminds them that Christians are destined for persecution. With this in mind, we thought it would be a good time to hear what this looks like in a modern context.

Jesus goes from hero to hated in the eyes of the people as he effectively claims to be Israel's long awaited Messiah. Jesus life and works testify to the truth of what he claims here and in doing so gives some priorities for those seeking to become more like him.

Having clarified the identity of Jesus, it is immediately called into question as Jesus enters a time of testing by the devil in the wilderness. So what do we learn from Jesus that will help us trust God in the midst of significant pressure to doubt.

Today we share a vision of the way forward - the direction we believe the Lord is taking us as a church. It’s a daring direction that honours the past and calls every one of us to play our part. So are you coming?
