Regardless of the good deeds we may do, or our attempts to live a holy life, no one is righteous before God. It is because of Christ's sacrifice on the cross that we have peace with God and our sins are washed away. He declares us justified before the Father and no outside circumstance can alter our status before Him. 

As the Bible calls our words to always be with salt and good for edification. Our words ought to be good in content, refraining from unwholesome and course talk. We should speak with good timing according to the need of the moment. Speaking in this way, led by the Holy Spirit will ensure that our words have a good effect to the hearer.

When the Word of God requires our speech to be with grace and seasoned with salt, it is calling us to speak the truth. We must speak the truth to our own heart and represent ourselves to others without deceit. Believers in Jesus are likewise called to speak the truth to and about others. Most importantly, we ought speak what is true to and about God. Is your speech comprised of the truth?
