In today's episode, we encounter some of the most challenging teachings in all of the Bible on the subject of marriage. Paul will challenge husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the church. Paul's message for the Christian family was radically countercultural to first-century Roman culture. It is still counter-cultural in our day and time.

The "imago dei" is an important doctrine that forms the basis for the Christian teaching of the dignity of life. In today's podcast, we explore what being made in God's image meant in the Ancient Near East. Understanding what this phrase meant to the people in the time of Moses will open up our understanding of our calling in the modern world.

In today's reading, we look at the first wedding recorded in Scripture. From this passage, we see the importance of human relationships, the essence of gender differences, the beauty of how the genders complement one another, and how marriage ultimately points to the gospel.

God created the earth in six days and rested on the seventh day. Later on in the biblical record, the Lord commands Israel to keep the Sabbath day holy and to cease labor on that day. In today's podcast, we will explore what that command represented and some points of application for us today.

In today's episode, we examine the creation account in Genesis 1 and see the place of the Sabbath in God's plan. We witness the symmetry of how God formed the earth on the first three days and filled the earth on days four through six. We find that God brackets and completes the creation week with the Sabbath. God blesses the Sabbath day and sets it apart as sacred.

In this episode, we look at Psalm 1 and learn several things. Psalm 1 is the gateway to the Psalter and the psalmist is contrasting the way of blessedness vs. the way of doom. The blessed person spurns bad advice, does not walk in the way of sin, has the proper attitude, and has deep roots in the word of God.
